Because of her sexual preferences and history?
I hate to break the news to you, most women are into most things.... Especiaoly if asked at the right time.
In this situation, the girl was blackout drunk. It wouldn't matter if they screwed her on a cloud and laid her in a feather bed after...still rape.
Having drunk sex is fun, having relatively sober sex with someone who is bordering on alcohol poisoning isn't fun... It's fricking rape.

You don't have to think she "deserved" anything while at the same time acknowledge that her actions raise some serious doubt about the arrestees' criminal culpability. It's not a one thing/other scenario. Our criminal justice system is built on the "beyond a reasonable doubt" standard - and rightly so. There are lots of cases where subjects actions may offend the public's sensibilities. That doesn't necessarily make them criminally guilty.

I have the feeling these dudes are gonna get off. The lines are too blurred and too much doubt will be cast.

Just the title alone screams sensationalism.

The white dude thought he was gonna get off by choosing a bench trial but the judge just got thrown off the case.

Not if she was my daughter.

Good.
Does this mean she’s completely removed from the proceedings, or just Carver’s judge only trial?

I think just Carver’s case? Not sure if the others chose bench or jury trial.

That’s a fricking awful thing to say. I’ve heard she came from a nice family. Kids act a fool despite good parenting all the time.

Enjoying sex, even rough sex with her friend the day before, isn't "acting a fool"
It's normal.
The only real bad decision by her was drinking entirely too much.
And realistically, we've all done that.

From the story
In a February 2023 text to his father, Carver wrote: “And the judge we are getting, I think u know about but we are friends with her and she is really good for our case. Her son was accused of rape a while back so she knows to help us.”
Nelson Dan Taylor Jr., Ray’s 46-year-old son, was convicted of two counts apiece of forcible rape and aggravated burglary in 1997. Ray was one of his trial attorneys, according to court records.
In December 2023, Carver sent his father another text message just before Ray was expected to make a pivotal pre-trial ruling. He suggested his defense attorney, Joe Long, told him the outcome would be in their favor.
“Because you know I was stressed about today but he still says we are good and judge is on our side,” the text stated.
After the hearing was postponed, Carver texted someone that “everything is good” and Ray reset the hearing for the following week.
“She had a problem opening all the discovery for the phones. But Joe said she is going to rule in our favor,” Carver’s text said.
the perp’s lawyer has indicated they’ll appeal the refusal…here’s my question: “why?” If there’s no bias from ray why should it matter who the judge is in the bench trial?

judge recused
quote:
A new judge has been assigned to preside over the December trial of Casen Carver.
Earlier this week, District Court Judge Brad Myers recused Judge Gail Horne Ray from presiding over the trial after the family of Madison Brooks expressed concerns about Ray’s impartiality.
quote:
It was announced in court on Thursday, Nov. 6, that the case has been given to Fred Crifasi, pending the appeal’s results.
The case has been put on hold until the result of Ray’s appeal to the First Circuit. The appeal is due by Dec. 5, unless an extension is granted.
Carver’s lawyer told WAFB he intends to appeal the decision that removed Judge Ray from the case.
A trial date will reportedly be set after Jan. 7, when the appeal’s status is reviewed.
Any trial, whether with Ray or Crifasi, will be a bench trial.

Interesting. I wonder if he will change his plea given the change in judge.
