I’m sure it smells wonderful
Actually, there were so many extra street food venders that it smelled incredible. I was kicking myself for eating beforehand.

>We made the mistake when I was a young lad. My parents said “let’s go to NO for the 4th”.
>Literally walked in the Riverwalk, walked through to the other side, and went to the car. Lol.
Same thing in the 80s when we went to a MS state park (Percy Quin?)
Drove in, saw the crowd, & immediately turned around & drove out

quote:The Essence crowd isn't bad. It's the local hoodrats that come out to the French Quarter/CBD en masse during the weekend. They rent out Chargers and blinged out cars to impress the out of town rich queens. Canal St is a fricking nightmare.
I know this has been said before but the essence crowd is more refined than the bayou classic crowd.

Essence crowd isn’t bad, it’s a higher class of tourist and they’re usually dressed to the nines.

I was around the city a bunch today. I drive Uber sometimes and haven't done it since Jazzfest, so I figured I would jump into the fun starting yesterday. Other than mid-morning today, I stayed out of the downtown crap.
My first pick up this morning was for Assus at the Four Seasons. Took her 12 minutes to get to down to the car, despite her texting twice that she was almost there.
I literally drove right around the corner and dropped her off at the Windsor Court. She could have walked that in 3 minutes.
I did one more pick up and saw the traffic building, the double parked cars, jaywalkers holding up traffic, and normal jackassery. Left downtown and didn't go back.
Made $150 just skirting around uptown and mid-city. Only dumb trip I accepted was to take three Canadians out to Slidell for a swamp tour(real Canadians, not the dark ones. LOL). Pretty sure I picked up a drug package for the trip from Slidell back to the city.
Overall the white people that I picked up and dropped off in other areas seemed to be having a good time and the traffic and parking was very smooth. Dropped off at Brightens, Cafe Degas, and Commanders earlier.
Other than the heat, all was well with them. I would never advise coming to vacation in Nola during the summer though. You can't enjoy anything outdoors at all unless you want to suffer like my friends from Canada.

I was very confused one year flying back into Nola at this time. Got on that plane, music going, dancing in the aisle. A festive bunch

Yep. I go once or twice a year and that’s all I can take.
It is still one of the cleaner and more occupied healthy malls in the region though. Location, location, location

I’m in Foley for a few days.
It’s crowded here.

Essence patrons spend a lot of money but none of it on tips.
Bayou Classic patrons are insanely cheap.

Essence isn’t that bad itself. It’s a positive event for them. It sucks bc if you work downtown and are trying to get around, it’s crowded and tourists downtown don’t look bf crossing the streets (I think all hotels and venues at check-in tell them they don’t have to look or follow road rules) and out of town drivers are stupid. It’s with any event. Not just this one.

Nope, I just left Harrahs. Not crowded at all.

Anyone who doesn’t have a death wish wouldn’t consider going anywhere near that shithole within a 10-mile radius.

A day in any Louisiana city is a mistake.

I’m sorry I’m not praising your lovely, vibrant city that has such a diversified economy and low crime rate. I mean holy shite, New Orleans is such an economic powerhouse in the US! It has so much potential it’s up there with NYC and LA!

Holy shite! Today Went to a restaurant uptown I regularly go to. For the first time ever I saw someone send food back. You’ll never guess what demographic these patrons were …
