I've been on here forever, LSU grad. This is actually the first account I ever made — used my real last name like an idiot, so I never post with it. I post regularly under a different username, but figured this one made sense for this.

I spent years working as a financial consultant inside contractor businesses, and I just started a YouTube channel called Beyond the Estimate to actually break down that stuff in a way that makes sense — no jargon, no guru nonsense.

First video's up now, walking through three real situations I've seen — an HVAC owner who couldn't figure out where two hundred grand a year in profit was disappearing to, a bookkeeping mistake that quietly wrecked a drywall company's numbers, and an unpaid invoice that sat for over three months before anyone noticed.

Plan is to keep putting these out regularly. Not trying to sell anybody anything in here, just figured some of y'all dealing with this exact headache might get something out of it.

If you want to help out a fellow LSU grad, hitting subscribe goes a long way — even if you don't end up watching a ton of the videos, it genuinely helps get the channel off the ground.

ETA: I ended up changing the thumbnail to a more serious and quizzical look. Please give your feedback! Thanks

Having an alter is a bannable offense, baw. I know from experience.

ETA: I have no problem with you doing this, FWIW.

I mean, I made the other account in October of 2005 and it's the only one I've been posting with since then. Hopefully Chicken will have a little understanding considering it's been over 20 years....

Decent video. Similar to the body shop business. Most guys who own body shops are not business majors. They started sweeping floors, then estimating, and ending up as the owner.

With a clue like that, OT detectives about to put in some work to figure out your other account

FWIW, pick a different background for your videos.

1. You live in either a trailer or an above ground house. Floor AC register.
2. You own two dogs - A black Lab or Scottie and some kind of brown & white bulldog.
3. You like beach sunrises/sunsets.

Very good. Yes, I do live in a house that has a crawlspace. I live in Boise, ID and this is extremely common. Yes, I own two dogs, one is a Boston Terrier (you guessed wrong on that one) and the other is in fact an English Bulldog. Lastly, who doesn't enjoy a nice beach sunset?

Seriously, if anyone thinks the background is not good in any way, please let me know. I work from home and this is my home office, but I can definitely make changes to the background.

Yes! Everything about this video is real. It does feel a little odd posting something on the OT using my real name and identity though...

Last part hits hard.

I've got a kitchen and design remodeling franchise in Gulf Shores.
Been open about 1.5 years.

Did $600k in 2025, gonna do $1.2 in 2026.
Currently owed $120k, of which $90k is 60 days past due.

Not fun!

No, not fun at all! And unfortunately really common — I've seen that exact pattern more times than I can count. Good revenue growth on paper, but the AR sitting out there past due is what actually keeps owners up at night, not the top line.

If you ever want to just talk through it, no pitch, no pressure — there's a way to reach me in the video description. Happy to jump on a call whenever, even just to think out loud about it.

Not sure if this was meant as a slam..
There are plenty of really nice historic homes with floor registers, fwiw.
