Crossing the state line on I-20 is still a hazard. The raised horizontal repairs seem to be inching higher. Tectonics I assume? 30 years of Lottery and 25 years of Casinos... Please fix that shite.

Morris Bart is still the State Greeter.

Superior Grill still hasn't figured out you can't simply melt sharp cheddar and hope for tasty queso. I don't get it. Can they not see how lumpy and oily it is?

Airport remains a quiet and easy in/out which is nice. Buying coffee at the literal-minded named nearby Airport Casino convenience store on the way back to I-20 was hit or miss, however. One hit are the ladies leggings advertised for sale inside... the leggings appear to be stuffed with newspaper to resemble legs and are hung on a clothes hanger on the front glass pane window. Black, leopard etc.

Overall, Shreveport is still Shreveport and I suppose it always will be.

You should change careers and become a travel agent.

Sure, Bossier isn't bad at all. I like it. Plenty to do. Lot of up and coming areas.
and a ton of its own shite holes. Bossier is experiencing its white flight to north bossier, Benton, Houghton, way south bossier; just as shreveport experienced that in the 80s-90s when the whole ellerbe area boomed.

Dont act like Bossier is some grand place. damn river rats. How can that get their water from the red river, the same river dumps its shite in.

it's demise. imo, began, and this evolved over a few years, with the downfall of George D'artois(who kept the streets safe and trouble confined to trouble areas,)

The downfall of George D'artois? You must be talking about when his scandals caught up to him and his decision to likely assinate the reporter Leslie caught up to him. He was going to trial for those crimes if he hadn't of died first.

Let call a spade a spade, D'artois suppressed and confined the shite out of the black population of Shreveport. As soon as they were no longer confined, Shreveport went to shite.

Another factor in the downfall has been white flight and brain drain of educated kids since the 80's deciding to live anywhere else besides Shreveport.

but is he really dead?
agreed, but he did a hell of a job as Commissioner of Public Safety in keeping the streets of SHV safe

Any old timers here have any good insight/stories during the 70's/80's and the Debartolo days? I've heard mentions of the mob etc and Louisiana Downs. Truth or fiction?

I was in Shreveport for Mother's Day and noticed a ton of homes for sale in Highlands between Piermont & E Kings Hwy/line and Fairfield. Sup with that?

What's crazy is how fast certain areas go from half decent to the hood. Pierremont Road east of I49 is decent. Go west under I-49 where it changes to Hollywood and it's straight up the hood. One road is the dividing line. Just like E 70th east of Line is decent and west of Line is sketchy at best. The entire area East of 49, North of 3132 and up to Cooper Road is not a great place to get lost at night.

My Grandma used to live in Queensborough right behind Fair Park. I didn't have second thoughts about spending the night there when I was a kid. Now it's a different story.

no kidding, my mother taught school at Queensborough elementary back in the day, not sure I'd drive in that hood during the day anymore

I get called into the hospital there occasionally at night. I take the quickest route off the Interstate and always have my gun in the truck.

A hospital security guard said there's been a group of people stealing employees cars on the back parking lots during broad daylight.

Nugget with respect to money in that area

Sat next to a run of the mill looking Baw and his girl at Superior Grill, right? Going to post a pic of what the two looked like. Just normal people.

Normal guy, 30's, 5'10 and maybe 250 lbs. Wearing a pink PFG shirt.

Girl was just as normal. Brunette etc. OT 5 at best.

We leave when they do... they jump in this (same color 488) and put the top down. I was impressed he fit in it. Winning at life.

I think I may know said average looking couple. If it is who I think, I have heard he made a large number with his O&G service company in the course of about 4 years.

And absolutely no offense to them whatsoever. My SO and I looked at each other and thought the same thing... good on them. Killing life. If he's reading,

West Shreveport is making a name for itself with the homicide rate. Per Capita they are reaching Chiraq statistics.

Ollie and them are just marinating, nobody with a brain would touch one of those positions because you get all the blame yet you cant physically make them stop killing each other. Therein lies the joke of SPD hiring deaf, blind and dumb to attempt to corral those idiots.

Im in North Bossier now, grew up in Sunset Acres in the early 90's, you couldnt pay me enough to frick around that area now.

On the mention of North Bossier food, we desperately need some decent local joints, that is my #1 complaint.

Lastly, Mansfield Rd at Bert Kouns is like taking a step back in time, walking into a k-mart as a kid, if you will.
