You laugh but that movie theater is awesome
No, that movie theater sucks, don't go there, stay in metairie and go to the palace.

I liked it better before everyone found out it's the nicest in the area and you have to get there a half hour early to get seats.

Turn esplanade mall into top golf.

The pandas would make a killing off of the DWIs if they put Top Golf there.

I think Esplanade mall is going to go bye bye soon
Macy's nationally is struggling under a ton of debt and a lack of vision. It wasn't that long ago that there was only the single Macy's store in NYC. They are stuck in the mid-market - being undercut on price by Kohls and JCP, and not nice enough to be a high-end store.
It makes no sense to keep both Esplanade and Lakeside, and the Lakeside store is newer and more centrally located.
As far as the mall itself... it's obvious it can't keep going as it has been. Market demographics what they are, I don't see them becoming "nicer" than Lakeside and pulling stores back. I don't see a need for companies to have locations in both.

I wonder how Dillards is doing?

Makes sense since Macy's is struggling nationally and I can't really see the benefit of them trying to keep Esplanade store open when they have a newer Macy's at Lakeside where its a better location and a lot more traffic through Lakeside mall than at Esplanade.
Sears at Oakwood supposedly is closing down...and Toysrus in Marrero announced its closing that store last week. Rough times for westbank retail

Macy's and Kohl's, etc. probably aren't long for this world. Amazon doin' work.

You forgot about Belle Promenade in Marrero. My favorite mall as a kid....had a movie theatre and nice arcade inside. AMC Palace theatres killed that mall because once the Belle Promenade theatre was forced to close, the rest of the mall died out not long after.

What's going to happen to all of the millions of square feet of retail space in this country that are going to be vacant in the next decade because of the internet? What a world.

Open a prison. I hear there is big money in that. Lots of potential income on the southshore.

turn the vacant malls into "apartment complexes"

Demolish everything south of MSY and level the ground and expand the airport for people to come to NOLA. Send the folks in Kenner to Baton Rouge.

Isn't Esplanade sort of like New Orleans' Cortana mall?
