So last evening there was a woman on my flight with a kid who I would have guessed was 4 or so. Her row was full and kid was on lap. I thought it was weird

We push away from gate and as stewardess passes making final check before takeoff she asks if that kid has her own seat
Mom: no
Stewardess (with suspicious look on her face): how old is she?
Mom: 2
Stewardess (look even more suspicious):.....OK....

Im kinda chuckling a couple rows back, no way in hell this kid is 2, stewardess probably knows as well but I guess she didnt want to make a scene given all airline drama recently. And I guess you dont have to prove the age of your kid, they dont have IDs

Wasnt a big deal, well behaved kid whole flight, whatever.

What this boils down to is on a scale of 1-10 how trashy is this?

This wouldn't be a problem if you fellas had supported the legislation I proposed:

No children under the age of 12 are allowed to ride on airplanes. Parents who lie about their children's age will be banned from flying again.

I'm trying to make America a better place.

If they're not gonna charge the fatties for more than one seat, then they don't get to charge the toddlers for a whole one.

Have you ever heard of the Tragedy if the Commons? Basic idea says that a cow pasture the entire village uses will be destroyed because no one person takes the responsibility to maintain the pasture and enforce it.

Society itself is bearing out a Tragedy of the Commons. People who take advantage of rules, laws, etc ruin things for everyone else and I have no patience for it.

They have asked everytime for a picture/copy of my sons birth cert at check in for the flight. I guess this woman said she didnt have one and the check in agents just caved?

As long as they're big enough to plug up the window, fine.

I'm not anti-kids, I'm anti-bad parents. There's an epidemic of terrible parents, and they're raising monsters.

Know how I know you either don’t travel much or don’t have kids? What is the purpose of this other than to prevent a bit of annoyance to you? Buy some noise cancelling headphones you cheap arse.
