Lurker perspective: why so much crossover w/political board & OT

Professional lurker here. Everyday I see at least one duplicate thread on both boards. Why is that?

Off-topic conversation and political conversation are very intermingled. Politics has invaded sports and education, entertainment, travel and BR traffic.
The boards here are general guidelines of what should be discussed, but not strict rules. If you posted on the OT-L - "Here is why I am voting *Insert Party Here*" it would be moved and deleted. If you posted on PB, "WYHI" it would be moved or deleted.
The boards can be linked if done right though

It will. Once you remove sport, politics is the biggest thing going right now. Even tragedies are linked to politics since the election is less than a week.
2 weeks from now it will all be ancient history like Christine Ford having a train run on her by the football team.

It has been bad for a while unfortunately and it keeps getting worse. I wish the admins would do something about it. This board used to be entertaining and informative. Now it's cluttered with political threads and even the non-political threads get hijacked regularly. Some people can't help themselves.

I’ve found that many people that have an extreme political interest have difficulty talking about anything else, regardless of topic. They look for windows in conversation to switch to a political focus because it’s all they know. Politics invoke emotions, which are then worn on sleeves for all to see...for some. There are posters here and on the poli board alike, that have fb pages and posts akin to political advertising. For some poor bastards, it’s all they have.
