She single?

Nope. Divorced now but been dating the same guy for years. She doesn't want to remarry.

She is my age now (41). She donated her eggs in her 20s. Knew she never wanted kids so figured she could help pay med school loans off and help out another couple in the process.

How much do you get for donating eggs?

I think they get 6-10K per egg retrieval cycle. Most egg banks let you donate a max of 6 cycles. I don't know how much she got cause this was years ago. I'm basing it off what current egg banks will pay.

yea luckily being in DC has helped as our health insurance covered a lot of stuff and saved us thousands

AZ sucks in regards to mandating fertility coverage. Some insurances do cover IVF...but not the ones I have with my work and my husband has with his work.

Getting a second job at Starbucks for the IVF coverage isn't an option for me either. Although my fertility doctor tells me he has patients that have done this.

Using a frozen egg donor is 25k. We are just gonna take out more loans. Like I said before...if baws can finance an ATV or boat...I can finance a baby.

Egg retrieval is no joke.

You don't realize how much your body swells after the procedure. Or how uncomfortable it is walking around with ovaries chock full of eggs right before the retrieval. I was so uncomfortable before and after retrieval.

Oh yeah it's a thing. Have read about it on several different infertility forums I've looked at over the years

You have to work at least 20 hours a week and insurance coverage doesn't kick in until you have been there at least 3 months.

I think it covers up to 20k in IVF coverage. A standard IVF cycle costs around 10-20K depending on different factors (cost of meds, state you live in, etc).
