How many Old TImer's remember The Rifleman?

Johnny Crawford, the former child actor who was an original Mouseketeer and young star of The Rifleman, has died following a battle with Alzheimer's. He was 75.

Crawford passed away peacefully on Thursday in a California care home with his wife Charlotte by his side, his management said in a statement.

In 1955, he was just 11 when he joined the first season of The Mickey Mouse Club as one of the 24 original Mouseketeers. After the first season, the show cut the number of cast members in half, and Crawford was released from his contract.

Crawford went on to win acclaim portraying young Mark McCain in ABC's western series The Rifleman, earning his first Emmy nomination at age 13.

Don’t get me wrong, it sucks when people die. But is the death of a child star from the 50’s really threadworthy?

You assume single dads like that don’t exist and base your ideal single dad on a TV show character from the 50s/60s.

Watch episodes of The Rifleman and The Virginian on Grit somewhat often. Was already sure all those actors have passed on.

One of only a handful of athletes to have played in both the NBA and MLB. IIRC he was the first documented basketball player to shatter a backboard.
