Apparently he was on the run for a few hours and considered armed and dangerous per WAFB. LSU hires the best people.

I love the initial report that was like an APB as if he was fleeing on i10 to Mexico...only to be found in...Baton Rouge.

Well, he carries a firearm for his job and held someone hostage.

Did he think if he left the campus he wouldn't get caught?

This is the second one in a year that has been busted for allegedly beating his girlfriend. Hell, the last one allegedly beat his police K9, too. Although the last one was never arrested or charged somehow. Pretty sure he tried to get on with Iberville Parish and they told him to frick off.
They have some amazing officers in that department, but also some completely worthless deadbeat fricks that shouldn't even be allowed to work a desk job, much less patrol. The good cops they have, though, are absolutely some of the best in the city.
I've met the cop arrested today before in friendly circumstances, meaning we were just shooting the shite and he didn't pull me over or anything. He was a fricking a-hole, so this shite doesn't surprise me. I've gotten along with just about every cop I've ever met... Not this dude.

Pics of his girlfriend?
What is sad is that I'm pretty sure they have a kid together.

Sad, yes.
Surprising, unfortunately not so much.
I support cops and other professions that have power, but many times the people that get these jobs have issues: anger, control, whatever.

Being 25, I would have figured he hadn’t become an arrogant prick yet. I guess I was wrong. He had a great job and all set for an easy career and Now he’ll be on the wrong side of the bars, at least for a few nights anyway.

Unfortunately, domestic violence seems to be pretty common in the law enforcement community....

All speculation. Nothing could be proven.

This is why the screening process to become a cop is so rigorous. I don't think many people realize the hoops someone must jump through to become a LEO. The screening isn't perfect, but considering you're hiring people to deal with the worst of humanity, it seems to be pretty damn good.

Damn, dude looks maybe 16. I don't see him being a threat even with an armory.

Just a friendly reminder that accused =/= guilty. There are two sides to every story.
Admittedly, I didn’t read the article and don’t know what evidence has been revealed yet, but the point still stands.

It would be a bigger news story if an LSUPD guy wasn't beating his girlfriend.
