I support cops and other professions that have power, but many times the people that get these jobs have issues: anger, control, whatever.

I believe it at times attracts that type. But I also believe that over time, it can also change some who are not initially that way. When day after day, someone gets used to expecting complete submission and compliance from everyone they deal with and then they don’t get that same level of submission and compliance from those in their personal life, I think there are some that just can’t handle it. They get so used to being in control of every situation, that when they find themselves in a situation that they are not in total control of, they attempt to regain control through force, which has become hard wired into them over time.

Now, there are obviously many well adjusted, great people in law enforcement that are able to separate their work from personal lives. But I feel like just chalking it up to “the job attracts that type” isn’t telling the full story.
