Law, but let's not act like a J. D. is the same echelon as a M.D. , or a truly challenging post graduate program.

Some law programs are harder to get into than the easy MD and OD schools. This is even more true if you're throwing in the Ross's of the world

I do not doubt a select few are in fact.

There are some bad, bad law schools in this country. Even the less regarded medical schools in the U.S. are still distinguished.

Very similar to 95% of those who practice law.

Only about 75% of us are truly that important, so I agree with you on the Southern and LSU grads and the remainder of that 20%

Tougher to get: Law Degree or Masters in Human Resources And which degree would you respect someone more for having?

I only respect people with a BA in Writing Worlds, a mixture of creative writing and anthropology, focused on realistic fictional world building.

People really don't know a lot about what hr does.

My wife works in HR. She makes bank.

They have to put up with and deal with a lot of shite because all grown men are children apparently.

Where there is a union, there is a hated hr rep.

Which schools, which era? LSU Law back in the day was a tough row to hoe. I think it is kinder and gentler now.

CSB: a couple of nights ago Mrs P was talking to little P in the other room and I overheard her say "you can be anything you want when you grow up" and I shouted "except a lawyer". She followed up with "yeah your dad will be upset if you're a lawyer, but you can be anything else when you grow up".

Just wanted to assure you that my hatred for you people isn't reserved just for the internet.

Be careful, that kind of encouragement is how the world ended up with Guy Fieri

HR is a great field but they do not handle the truly messy situations. That's why we have attorneys.

The HR field also has a much lower income ceiling than other professions unless you move into the independent consulting role.

As far as the respect issue, it's a person by person call...regardless of educational backgrounds.

Wasn't even aware that there was a Masters degree program for human resources. Sounds like a total waste.

Sounds a lot like lawyers..

Sure, lawyers have higher ceilings. It's really not a good comparison nor was I saying he is better. Simply pointing out that hr gets alot of shite.

Hr managers in big companies do get paid incredibly well fwiw. The ceiling varies by the size of the company.

I know a girl with a masters in HR who once said these words to me in casual conversation:

"The atlantic isn't the one that is salt water, is it?"

She's a lovely person (seriously). She also thought penguins were in Australia and claims to never have heard of whatever Saudi Arabia is.
