I’m excited to announce a watershed moment in LSU history – Our Lady of the Lake and LCMC Health have committed $245 million to LSU over the next 10 years, the largest philanthropic investment ever made to our university. This support will advance our pursuit of the National Cancer Institute designation, catalyze STEM education and research in Louisiana, strengthen the talent pipeline for the future of healthcare, alleviate financial barriers to quality healthcare for our students, and provide elite wellness programs to our student-athletes.

This is a game changer for LSU and for Louisiana. As the state’s flagship university, LSU has an inherent responsibility to our fellow Louisianans. Not only will this allow LSU to position itself as a national leader more aggressively than ever before, but it will also support our commitment to reducing cancer disparities for the people of our state and meaningfully improving the quality of healthcare and overall quality of life for so many people in need.

Investments at this level are disruptive in the most positive of ways and will lead to additional advancements. I’m proud to say that there’s more good news on the horizon, and I look forward to celebrating our continued ascent with you all. Thank you for the incredible role you play in our success.

William F. Tate IV
LSU President

$85M going to Athletics:

As LSU’s Championship Healthcare Partner, Our Lady of the Lake is committed to investing $6 million annually for 10 years as the Sports Medicine Partner for LSU Athletics. This money will be invested solely in student-athlete health and wellness and will be managed by the Tiger Athletic Foundation. This partnership also includes a $1 million annual investment in LSU Sports Properties, our Multimedia Rights Holder. In addition, OLOL is providing $1 million annually in direct medical support and $500,000 annually for a Programmatic Support Fund for LSU Athletics. This partnership is in line with our priority to increase our collaboration with campus and the community.

I assume Andrea Gallo and Robert Mann are losing their shite over this? They’ve both blocked me on Twitter so sadly can’t see their melts.

I'm hearing more announcements are in the pipeline too regarding changes being made to LSU's priorities. More focus on research, tech, coast, and engineering

So the government writes a blank check to OLOL who then turns around and donates that money to LSU.

This sounds like the state laundering it's own money to shore up it's flagship university.

This is great news! Academic fundraising like this deserves to be lauded. A step forward in closing the massive resource gap between academics and athletics.

Isn’t this the same hospital that had the LSU booster scandal? I guess they are just doing it legally now.

I don't understand how people don't see what's going on here

I called this when LSU decided to go woke. They did so knowing they would lose alumni donations but knew they could go to the state and get paid. I didn't think they'd go this route, but here we are. Expect LSU to get even more radical now.

That surprises me. Jerry Richardson has given more than that to our shared alma mater over the last 8 years and it is a small private liberal arts school with fewer than 1,800 students. I would have though there would have been much larger grants to a school the size of LSU.

The bar has admittedly been set extremely low after the previous guy but Tate deserves credit where credit is due.

1. He booted minimally effective provost
2. ended renaming buildings
3. pushed for more public/private partnerships
4. Stayed in his lane regarding athletics
5. Got Kirby-Smith to finally be demo'd

ETA: (credit DS)

6. Brought Greeks back to parade grounds
