re: LSU professor says she will start dropping (racist) students - says she’s keeping a list

And her response being on twitter, again, makes it seem like she wanted recognition for it. Which she got and then some making her take it to the next level. If the kid actually makes a statement like that in her class, she has every right to kick him out and drop him.
The difference between the two is that the kid made a socially unacceptable, yet legal, comment.
The professor threatened to take unconstitutional actions against students that could cause her employer to be sued for large sums of money.
I’m not about cancel culture either, but she should be reprimanded.

However, we can't hold some folks accountable for what they say and not others. What she said just so happens to clash with a university's stated procedures.

At this point, the only thing that really matters is LSU's response. They cannot be seen as allowing individual professors to essentially keep a list of students she doesn't agree with with intent to academically damage them.
Bravo! Nailed it.

I don’t know the facts, but I read that the video was private and released by a vindictive chick.
Not a defense, but at least he didn’t intend for it to be public.

This young man, who said he “hates n*****s,” is allegedly looking to enter into the medical field. There should be no place in this society for people to hate another race because of their skin color; let alone, working in the medical field where he would service people of all colors.
No one is defending the kid, and for the rest of his life (school, jobs, etc) he’ll have to answer for this transgression.

That’s where you lose me. What the kid said was morally wrong but keeping him away from a campus and making sure he doesn’t get a job isn’t the answer.

Because that’s how the world works now. The biggest piece of advice I can offer to anyone is to minimize what you put on your social media. I post fishing pictures, kid pics, and stuff for my business. I see people showing their arse with political posts all the time and just shake my head, those will always be around as liabilities.

You're correct. The broader issue doesnt really even center around him, and I don't particularly care what becomes of him.
The major issue is the fact that a professor, a representative of a university, publicly stated that she was going to keep a list of student(s) (plural) whom she believed to be racist, and she was going to purposefully set out to damage them academically.
The problem there is that she is the decider. She and she alone. Her declaration did not happen in a vacuum. We find ourselves living in a country and a time when there is not one thing out there that someone will not call racist. If this professor happens to have a very broad definition of what is and isn't actually racist, she is in a position to ruin many academic careers. That is not, nor should it be, her job.
I've said it on here before, and I will say it again now. In a world where everything is racist, nothing is racist.

I know the answer Sruffy.
Just hoping that these people who’ve been pointed to this thread as the reason for the teacher deleting the tweet understand that ruining teenagers‘ lives over their words is about as sick as you can get as a response. Scold them. Beat his arse if he does it to your face.
Teach the kid a lesson and then let him move on with the hopes he can be a productive member of society. All that goes out the window if he’s stalked and not allowed to learn from it.

Many people replying to this forum are making this about the n-word, when it’s much more than that.
This young man, who said he “hates n*****s,” is allegedly looking to enter into the medical field. There should be no place in this society for people to hate another race because of their skin color; let alone, working in the medical field where he would service people of all colors.
A university and its professors should hold their students to a certain standard. Yes, black people use the word. Yet, I’m black and I do not use this derogatory term, and I do not condone anyone using it. Make all the excuses you want, but it will never be okay. His behavior should never be accepted. LSU should rescind his acceptance, and anyone else with similar views. Racism should no longer be tolerated.
Open your eyes and see that this issue is more than Democrats vs Republicans. Educate yourself and maybe you’ll begin to see where the hatred in your hearts stems from.
Our 1st amendment will win every time. Does anyone condone what the kid said? no! Does he have a right to say what hey wants? Yes! Does a public university have a right to not allow him admission because of what he posts? Hell no. Does a professor have legal standing to drop students for what they think and say? Nope. This won't pan out well for LSU or any public universities.

Hopefully, LSU students will drop her classes.
Posted on 6/8/20 at 7:59 pm to LegendInMyMind
That’s a solid response.
But it goes well beyond the teacher. All of this was Started because some celebrity is getting her followers to send her private pics, videos, and messages of their white “friends” doing racist shite. 99% of the people being called out are high schoolers. Her Twitter was deleted for 12 hours for it but she’s back.

I'm speaking strictly on the professor and her actions.
On your other point:
Any parent of a child who has any social media platform needs to be having a very real and a very serious discussion with their children. It is the parent's responsibility to educate their child to say nothing on social media that they would not stand up at church or in court and say. It is just as public, and it is in writing. There will be repercussions and you will not be able to hide from it.

SJW’s are the ultimate trolls and evident by the amount of pages on this thread, they do a damn good job of trolling their target demo

You think this teacher was a troll? Was it not a real account?

I thought these places were about growth and learning about life. But you're saying because a kid said some dumb shite when he was 15 that's all he will ever be? And he shouldn't be given the chance to learn the errors of his ways?
The only thing that this professor would be accomplishing with her actions is cementing his hatred for minorities. And he'll probably become more outspoken against them. So she is just making things worse.
