Playboy started the famous Party School rankings and refused to rank LSU because "professionals were not allowed on the list."

Pretty sure this is a myth. I believed it when I was at LSU in the mid to late 90s

Eh, if our academics were really changing commensurately maybe. I don't think those are much different than when the school was routinely topping these rankings, though, which just makes it sort of lame, if nothing else.

I was there from 92-00 and I still think it peaked before I got there.

Power dorm was fricking crazy though, nothing was legal or collegiate about what went on there

Right at the top of the bell curve then.

Either way, we win.

I don't think it a myth, my father mentioned a Playboy or other sports mag having such. He was Frosh in 1958.

LSU was usually #1 in rankings that I saw during the 1980s as HS & College student.

Took 5.5 for my first degree, but I still wasn't done. I was living in house behind the Chimes, now the parking lot, and it was too much fun. Got another degree and one of those hot waitresses before getting out of there.

I would say the whole Ben Wynne incident officially ended the "good ol days" of LSU's reign as a top party school.

College kids today would be blown away by the crowds of South Seas during the 1980s.

It is hard to explain to people that we had open parties with hundreds of people, bands and a beer truck with taps on the sides in the house yard. Something that will never be seen again on a college campus. If that isn't the apex of the party curve then I don't know what is...

It is 100% a myth. Damn near every school applies the "we don't compare pros to amateurs" line to themselves. When I was at WVU in the early 00's everyone in Morgantown took it as fact (myself included). I have heard people from Wisconsin, Penn State, South Carolina, and about 5 other schools all claim the same line at some point (add LSU to that list).

Snopes has all the info you need - playboy themselves have addressed this rumor, and confirmed that it is BS.

I'm still convinced we saw him laying next to a Jeep on Chimes St. that night.

Also.....during those years you could have high school and college kids drinking at the same bar.

I still remember having fun at Drinkin with Lincoln nights at The Bengal my senior year in HS.

The school basically wants no more fraternities and sororities anymore and all the bullshite rules they put in place really hinder the ability to have a good time at your respective house. I know a bunch of people on here hate Greeks but the school hates them more, I assure you.

LSU is so SJW these days so it's no surprise that the partying is weak.
