it takes 6 hrs to fly from NY to LA
If hyperloop can truly achieve hypersonic speeds, it should take about 3 hours. Throw a aircraft toilet onboard and you should be good to go

I think people seriously overestimate the demand for travel between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

I'll settle for an interstate loop to drive around BR to get to New Orleans!
Put those smart kids on that project!! If Lake Charles can have a loop, the Baton Rouge can too.

Have you seen the design of these pods?
As someone with Crohn's I can see this being a real shitty situation to be stuck in.

So they want to put people in one of those tubes that my bank teller uses for the drive thru?

I doubt the actual product will look like this for a long haul hyperloop. I'd picture more of what you see in the european train system than those futuristic renderings.

Only if millions were spent studying it

Well they better be thinking of that before laying tube down. Shoving a bigger version into the original tubes isn't too easy of an upgrade.

This TD thread will have a more accurate account of actual demand than any million $ think tank based in Dallas can come up with.

LSU ME's design BR-Nola hyperloop. Would you ride it?
No. These kids obviously can't be that bright. Why on earth would you ever choose a project that is that complicated (from the pictures at least). If you're smart, you're going to pick something super easy. What I did and I still got an A.

Will it run downriver only? Could get behind this.

Some ppl decide to become an engineers to build new and exciting products...
If these students get it right, they can parlay this competition into actual jobs at HyperLoop1
