Could easily see this type of bull shite false alarms continuing, then eventually calls for police to be more sensitive to what the image of a firearm does to people.

Imagine a politician, standing up pandering the voters, demanding that LEO either conceal their firearm or wear some kind of absurd costume identifying them as LEO so people can "relax and breathe easy"

I'd bet this guy's badge was visible as well since he was coming to give a presentation.

Does plainclothes mean something different than street clothes?

ETA - I don't get the vibe they wear their badge while off duty.

It’s not illegal to open carry

pretty sure it is on school grounds, unless you're law enforcement.

You ever seen an officer give a presentation and not have their badge?

In uniform, no, but while off duty, yeah.

You've seen officers give presentations while not working?

Is there a contrarian take you won't make?

Who the hell calls the police to a holstered pistol? So he likely had on slacks, a tucked in polo, and holstered gun? That’s certainly the typical outfit of a mass shooter...

Huh? What's contrarian about someone presenting while off duty? I've seen it a few times in civic clubs.

I'm not trying to argue with you about it, I'm just suggesting a plainclothes officer open carrying isn't a shocking false alarm.

I remember the days where we all had rifles and shotguns in our cars during school.

He was probably wearing some 5.11 tactical pants and a fricking polo tucked in with his gun and badge clearly visible.

Common sense tells you he’s a cop if he’s open carrying on school grounds.

And I'm.suggeeting there's a very high likelihood that his gun was on one side of his belt and his badge was on the other given what he was there for.

I know its cool to call people "snowflake", but people are on high alert right now. Law enforcement are telling people "if you see something, say something". I'd rather someone not assume and take action than to think "its probably not anything".. And then something happens

Its cliche but its better to be safe than sorry.
