Not sure if this has been posted, but saw this and was immediately disappointed.

LSU is getting dangerously close to Mizzou level.

Well, a lot is true about north and south Baton Rouge. His excuse for moving to South Baton Rouge is pretty weak though.

Oh please let another law professor from LSU write a rational response to that op/Ed grounded in truth, fact, and the law.

From now on, however, the image of my city includes that of a visibly restrained man being shot at point blank range, then left to bleed to death while members of our police force picked his pockets for a gun.

What a fricking joke. Amazing that people are so emotional that they overlook what the video actually shows.

Too many view the lives of people in north Baton Rouge as the cumulative result of poor choices, weak values and dependency. This is more than just lazy thinking. It’s an intolerable lie predicated on the erasure of all of our city’s and nation’s history. Like many urban communities, north Baton Rouge is the result of specific policy choices, social patterns and the toll that all of it eventually takes on neighborhoods, families and individuals. It’s a very American story of how black people have systematically been denied the opportunity to live in safe and stable neighborhoods. No amount of “individual responsibility” or “bootstrapping” will ever change that.

One is south Baton Rouge: a prosperous and amenity-filled, predominantly white and middle-class network of cul-de-sac neighborhoods and upscale shopping centers.

I don't know if I would necessarily call it "prosperous and amenity-filled." More like "acceptable first world environment."

I'm just glad it was Tyson that wrote this and not Diamond. I have respect for Diamond.

To me it reads as a thinly veiled attempt to take the next step in a political career after failing to win his 2015 election.

There's truth to this but I doubt the professor would agree with me on the specific policies to blame.

A neighborhood is a direct reflection of the majority of its residents.
