This guy gets it. It’s the schools fault for putting this class on the registration only for it actually not to be offered. I don’t know how I could have predicted that beforehand
LSU did their job. You go to school to get educated. If this experience with "administrative bureaucracy" didn't educate you, then you are the problem.

Administrative bureaucracy is rampart in the "real" world.

LSU sucks, most of them don't give a shite. When I was there I left the advisors frustrated just like everyone else sitting in that office.

And don't even get me started with the attitude some of those women in the bursar or registrars office.

If he didn’t need anymore classes, why would he still be in school? Pretty obvious you never had to deal with any of this.

Had this happen last spring. I sign up for a class that says - admin as the instructor. Figured it was funky. Show up to fist class and it's about 20 of us. No teacher. I'm 30 and these kids were like, we should leave. I said give it 15 more mins. If not, I'll go find the division chair. No teacher still, so I go on a walk. Tell chair no teacher was there, he said oops, I'll find a teacher by Monday.

Monday comes around, have a young adj teacher. She was a complete bitch and I dropped the class after that. Ended up getting fricked on that because of the time period that had passed was past the initial drop date, so not only did it go on my transcript, but I had to pay back the VA for the course.

There is no way they keep a class for one student. That's not how they work.

It sounds like they put the class up by mistake, closed it after one person registered, and instead of purging it, just left it and didn’t think it was important to notify the person that signed up for it. I’ve heard of it happening before.

You still have a week to add new classes to your schedule. Just find one that will count or at the very least just take anything.

You're right though, whichever department that offers the class is responsible for notifying students especially if they're signed up for it.

I managed to graduate LSU in 4 years and fix my own scheduling issues without once having to see or contact an adviser.... it's not that damn hard. In my experience most people who did need to regularly see or contact an adviser were the students who went back home on weekends to do their laundry and "couldn't even" during finals week.

Well considering you need an advisors signature to be allowed to schedule classes you kind of have to see an advisor at least once a semester.

FIFY.

My wife did a summer program there in HS. You don’t know dysfunction until you’ve dealt with SU administration. Makes LSU look like German-level efficiency.

I had that happen to me but they posted a note on the door the first day of class and I scheduled a new one with my advisor like an adult. I never acted like a pussy or cried about it on the internet. Now go buy some fricking pants that cover your ankles.

I never did. The only time I required an advisers signature is on the document stating that I had accumulated the correct classes and enough hours to graduate. Was the first and last time I walked into that office. I guess some majors and programs are different

Try finding out in your last semester that you not only failed English 1001 (remedial), but didn't receive a single grade on a single assignment/test all semester. You've never received lower than a B in any other course your entire career at LSU. English 1001 is not even part of your curriculum. When you show them the evidence, and explain that you did not schedule English 1001, they say no you're wrong you unnecessarily scheduled it, then proceeded to not show up a single time all semester, never turn anything in, never take a test, never send an email, etc. and must have just forgot.

happened to one of my best friends at LSU. Couldn't help but laugh at the whole situation. Ultimately he dgaf, but the universities incompetence was ridiculous.

It's sad, but I do not believe the student as a learner wanting to earn a degree is the center of the university experience anymore.

Probably the one big advantage of attending a smaller state school, their graduate schools are usually small, less likely to have graduate assistants teaching your class, and the professors are hired primarily to teach, not bring in research money,

My niece transferred to LSU BR after doing two years at LSU-A, a month into the semester she is to graduate her advisor calls her in and tells her some class she took as a freshman will not count and she needs another class, this after being told two years prior that everything was good and what additional classes she needed to take. She had everything documented, and raised hell to the point that they let her take a independent study class and graduate.

I am a senior about to graduate, and need one more of those classes to graduate. Now, they stripped me of a class and I am labeled a part time student.

Are you supposed to graduate in December? What kind of class was it? You have like a week and a half to add classes once semesters start so you have time to replace it with something.
