Exactly my point! Thank you for making it...The only reason LSU has such a high number of "Walmart Fans" is because of their success in football...which is all fine and dandy, but it sort of exposes that portion of the fan base as shallow bandwagon riders.

My dad has been a fan for 60 years. There is nothing bandwagon about his fandom, even though he didn't go to LSU.

Go back and see my earlier post. I have been an LSU fan my entire life and did not go to school there.
Every big school has some bandwagon fans. The bandwagon fans are in the minority. Of course you know that already. You just like being a tool.
You still haven't said where you went to school, where you are from and what team you cheer for.

LSU alum who hasn't set foot in a wal mart in at least 4 years here. Your post is dumb as LSU has a much higher % of cool and classy than ULL

The top universities in each state have tons of fans that didn't go to school there. I live in California and there are diehard usc fans everywhere and none of them went to school at Usc. Who the hell would rep Directional State University?

Hardly seems relevant? But if you are so curious I went to ULL and live in Lafayette (queue the ULL inferiority comments). I cheer for the Saints, and yes I admit that the only reason I do is because of where I'm from...although this sort of comparison between college and NFL is meaningless...obviously NFL fans don't have any substantial tie to their teams other than geography at most.

Once again, people are making my point for me.
Any major Univeristy, especially one enjoying recent to current success, will have a portion of their fans who are shallow bandwagon riders.
Someone mentioned Miami hurricane fans from the early 90's. Perfect example.
My OP was simply a question of why LSU fans are so sensitive about the topic. Although we haven't arrived at an answer, we have certainly proved the thesis if nothing else
