I cheer for the Saints, and yes I admit that the only reason I do is because of where I'm from...although this sort of comparison between college and NFL is meaningless...obviously NFL fans don't have any substantial tie to their teams other than geography at most.

How did you become a Saints fan exactly?
It's in my post. I like the Saints because I'm from Louisiana (and they're the only professional team from Louisiana).

So by your logic, no one should be a fan of the New York Yankees unless they played for them. Makes perfect sense.

you cant be a saints fan unless played for them. you should change the logo next to your name.

Ok, you went to ULL. Now it makes sense why you are jabbing at lsu. When I went to LSU I never heard anything about ULL. When I moved to Lafayette, I realized how many anti-LSU fans there are who have little brother syndrome. it's crazy, ULL fans think there's a rivalry or something.

Go to party, make an assholish statement, express surprise when people react negatively. MMkay.

Right on cue.
Well if nothing else we have established that LSU fans are sensitive about their fandom.

My OP was simply a question of why LSU fans are so sensitive about the topic. Although we haven't arrived at an answer, we have certainly proved the thesis if nothing else
Any fan is sensitive to their loyalty being questioned.
You haven't come across some new revelation that is specific to LSU fans.
You have certainly proved that you are a hypocrite and a tool though.

I'm wondering if you see the irony in your argument. I doubt you do, which makes it so much funnier.

A sensitive what?
Also, I'm an LSU alumna and I would've laughed.

Nah. He does, but refuses to acknowledge it because it doesn't fit his narrative.

Typo, my mistake.

Then you're probably self actualized and secure. This would be in stark contrast to a lot of posters in this thread.

The hilarious thing is how many people in Lafayette wear Bama gear
They were still Florida fans when I was in school there a few years ago.
Some of my professors got really pissy when I wore LSU shirts on fridays. Pathetic bunch.

I haven't refused to acknowledge anything. I support the Saints because of where I'm from.
Note this is in contrast to my statements about a portion of LSU's fanbase being comprised of shallow bandwagon riders.
In 2009 the number of self identifying Saints fans probably tripled, and working out of state as I frequently did, I heard no end of bandwagon comments. There was no reason to take offense however, because the people making these comments were correct. There were lots of bandwagon fans.
What is confusing to me is why this upsets LSU fans so badly. If you're not a bandwagon fan, good for you! You should at least be aware of reality enough to acknowledge that there are bandwagon fans out there, and secure enough to not let this bother you. Apparently this is too much to ask for some people.

Your OP said that you intentially trolled LSU fans to "rile them up". You did so successfully. Now you are curious as to why you got the reaction you did?
Clearly a graduate of Southwest Louisiana State University.

They are the New Orleans Saints, not the Louisiana or Lafayette Saints.
Meanwhile LSU is LOUISIANA State University.
And ULL is still the wanna be school from Lafayette.

Betting you won't be hanging out with this group next new years eve . You seem a little angry , did you have a little too much to drink last night ?

This would be like walking around ULL, asking people why they keep trying to call themselves UL when that is not their name, and then wondering why they are pissed off.
