You are being intentionally obtuse.

Meanwhile LSU is LOUISIANA State University

Right. And this is why such a disproportionate number of people support them with no ties to the university? Wouldn't have anything to do with their success in football?

And ULL is still the wanna be school from Lafayette.

Maybe maybe not. I've known the host since we were 6 or 7. This wasn't our first "disagreement"

This would be like walking around ULL, asking people why they keep trying to call themselves UL when that is not their name, and then wondering why they are pissed off.

It's a valid point though. The school is ULL, and although I (and many others) often shorten it to UL, getting upset about someone pointing this out as incorrect is nothing but proof of extreme insecurity.

I hope you realize you are again making my point for me. You wouldn't expect someone to become angry and defensive if you corrected them for saying "UL" instead of "ULL", and yet you are becoming angry and defensive over a joke about LSU having bandwagon fans.

So someone can be a Saints fan just because they live in Louisiana, but if someone lives in Louisiana they can't be an LSU fan or ULL fan unless they went to school there otherwise they are considered a shallow bandwagon fan.

Your logic is flawed sir. You know that of course. You are just being purposely obtuse.

Oh yes. Yes I would. One guy at my office has ALWAYS called them ULL and now that his daughter goes there he calls them UL and bristles at the name ULL. Pretty much every ULL fan I know gets pissed if you use that name.

ULL really doesn't have this issue

I will again point out that this comparison between NFL and NCAA is meaningless.
In Louisiana you have one choice for an in state pro football team, or you can throw a dart at the map of the US and pick a team like that.

There are several schools who play division 1 football in LA, but I would say it is fair to state that LSU has the most fans with no ties to the university. The reason is obviously their success on the field, hence the bandwagon label for these fans.

Define "connection". I mean am I disqualified if I grew up going to LSU home games and those are some of my fondest memories of childhood? What if I attended another university because the program LSU offered was crap or didn't exist or I received a scholarship to that school? God forbid that even after having graduated from another school and living in another state for a decade I still loose my mind over LSU sports.

Please let me know if I should I renounce my fan hood and my season's tickets.

I always get ripped for this but I don't understand why some people are so passionate about a school they have no connection to.

For example, if your parents went to LSU and you went to Rhodes, I get that. Otherwise it just doesn't make much sense to me.

First of all, I don't believe any of your bullshite story in the OP. You start this thread under the pretense that you were trying to rile up some LSU fans, but it's pretty obvious by your responses that you are deeply hurt and bothered that people are LSU fans regardless of their affiliation to the university (which is the reason you made up a story to start a thread). I'm just curious why you care, I don't give a frick who pulls for which team or why. So why does such trivial bullshite bother you so badly?

I'm really not, in fact if you actually understand what I wrote, I acknowledge this is the case and I understand why it is.

The question I am posing, is why are LSU fans so sensitive about the topic. I suppose you could try to take the position that this isn't the case, but it would seem this thread has provided ample evidence to the contrary.

I could take the position that what isn't the case? Sorry, I don't make a habit of arguing made up stories. You got called out on your lame attempt at a subtle troll and your thread has been anchored, I think we're done here

Tell me, do you think this is unique to LSU? If yes, lol. If no, then how can you deny that your argument is based on some level of resentment of LSU, simply because you didn't go there?

Of course not.

I'm not sure what kind of answer you expect here? The OP came from a specific interaction I had with LSU fans. It would seem odd to ask if USC fans are sensitive about their bandwagoners.

You know how a small child is shocked when you hide something behind your back and then have it reappear before their eyes?

That's what your incredulity looks like to adults, assuming it is genuine.

So, are you genuinely surprised that calling someone's allegiance to a team into question produced the response you received? Perhaps their reaction was related to how stupid you come off with your attempted troll. Not that I'm defending your friends. You all seem dull.

It is terribly ironic that you somehow think I was calling their allegiance into question based on my anecdote, then go on to repeatedly sling accusations of stupidity. I can only surmise you are extremely insecure about your own allegiance.

If your honest conclusion based on the story I related was that I called their specific allegiance into question, then you would be wise to drop the "you're dumb and your friends are dumb" shtick. Reading and comprehension are clearly not your strong suit.

I went to LSU and my son went to ULL but when we talk about the Tigers it's always "we played well", "we won", "we can't quit getting false start penalties"
