Customer service still awful at both

Ace is the place
Customer support and employee knowledge far and away superior at Ace than HD and Lowe’s for sure.

Lowes has shittier lumber from my experience. Warped wood is no good.
If you are buying lumber from a big box store you are doing it wrong.

I agree but not by much. They treat veterans better and seem to have more staff. I find HD actually a little cheaper

Stuff is easier to find at Lowes but our Home depot has far better check outs, self checkouts that actually work 99% of the time.
This. All of it.

Not for every project. I can still be picky if it's for something that doesnt need to be top shelf.

Lowes POS system and their online order- in store pickup is horrible.
I find this to be very true. HD blows them away in this regard
I like the emailed receipts and access to order history from Home Depot way better
The Lowe’s stores in my area NEVER have accurate inventory levels compared to what their website shows. Very frustrating

Menards > Lowe's + Home Depot

No doubt. That never fail 10% coupon you can get on eBay is legit. Buy it now and it’s emailed to you in less than a minute.
Except it's not legit. Its a pdf with a barcode that was generated. Not exactly a legal coupon.

Ace 4 life. I went into Harry’s on magazine st to get a plunger and the guy there gave me a 10 minute recommendation and history of the plunger.

I shop Lowes or HD interchangeably unless I need a certain brand. I like Freud blades and router bits, so HD for them. That is if they actually have what I need. Usually purchase online. I like the feel of Lowes better for shopping, though. However, it is like talking to a bunch of chickens if you need help at either of them.
Now, if I want quality lumber I go to a local lumber mill. I rarely buy plywood from either lowes or hd, I go to a local cabinet supplier for that.
For garden or lawn stuff that I want quality I go to a Co-Op or another local place.
I value the simple phrase, "How can I help you?" as soon as I walk in the door and the fact that large orders are loaded by the staff at all the local joints. I never get a headache dealing with them, and they legitimately appreciate your business.
The bunch of yahoos working at all the big box stores couldn't care less if you do business there.

Lowe’s is geared towards women.

Arthur Blank seems like a kindly old gent.
Seeing that Super Bowl blow up in his face made me feel bad.
He hugged some crying kids who were Falcon fans after the game.

Lowes is the choice for "wanna be" tool guys. Lowes sells better hand tools and power tools. Women like Lowes because of plants, lighting, and ceiling fans.
Home Depot is good for construction materials. Lumber, plumbing, electrical etc. Home Depot's construction material is more organized compared to Lowes.
I use both on occasion. I prefer Home Depot if I had to choose
