Ever since these little brown lizards hit Uptown, the bug population has fallen. Seriously, you see like 10 of these little frickers every in every block on every street. Supposedly they're an invasive species, Brown Anoles, different from the green lizards that have been around NOLA forever.

Saw a few of them out in Ponchatoula on Thursday ahead of the storm that came through. Had a goddamn cloud of the things around me this AM while touching up the yard with a push mower. Went over into an area with some high grass, and they came boiling out. They apparently love the smell of spent gasoline.

Those things are all over Lakeview. They’re efficient at mosquito control though.

I don’t know if it’s just my area but I’ve noticed way more male/male pairs. In the past it was around 5% but I swear last night walking the dog it was 25-30%. Maybe due to the early season?
