I only know one white person that currently owns a pit. I’m not prepared to call him white trash, but suffice it to say he makes more than his share of poor decisions.

To my knowledge, none of the black people I know own a pit. But I do commonly see black people in the hood walking their amazing gentle killers.

Colleen Lynn's sol purpose in life is to have all "pits" exterminated or BSL enacted. It's like asking an abortion doctor on the best parenting method.

That first article you linked just now is a huge mic drop. I love it. Exactly what i've been preaching in this thread. All accidents can be prevented with responsible ownership. People just don't understand dogs because people are stupid, so they just blame instead of educating themselves. It's sad

Because those are far and few. Instead of all your bitching, you could have just provided this info. I searched "dog attack deaths" and never came upon this site.

What you posted is only a summary of what's in the report (which you have to pay for) and isn't exactly what we are arguing here. We aren't arguing about preventable factors in dog bite deaths, but what breeds are actually doing the damage.

This tells me is that the bites were caused by preventable factors, and not caused by the breed itself. That doesn't mean that pits weren't doing most of the deadly attacking.

I'd like to view the whole report to get the context, but not paying for a subscription.

Again, I'd like to view the whole report, as the results point toward Rots and Pits accounting for over half the deaths, but the conclusion then goes on to say that "other breeds may bite and cause fatalities at higher rates." Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Key word here is "may", and I'm guessing they put that in there because there were a lot of deaths in which the breed wasn't identified. So it's technically possible another breed could be responsible for more deaths than pits and rots, but there's not enough information for them to draw that conclusion. Take what you want with that data. I'd like to see a more updated study (couldn't find one) since pits have become much more common since the 90s.
