You show me a state that's running a 2 billion dollar surplus, that's a state that's extremely well run. Then...you hear it's Louisiana. That's when you realize it's because they spend the bare minimum on it's citizens, and this 2 billion will be put into "special" funds that will be appropriated by the states buddies. It's sad...this should be great news.

There are probably a dozen stretches or major highway like that in La. It’s functionally obsolete and needs to be widened, the pavement is worn, the reflectors are missing, the drainage is terrible, and the lighting is non existent.
Just a few more…US 61 north of Baton Rouge, US 190 between Baton Rouge and Hammond, pretty much all of I-12, a huge chunk of US 190 between Opelousas and Livonia, most of LA 1, about 100 miles of I-10, etc.
