It's because some people see a certain race and assume they will just be poor and uneducated.
But is it really race? Or just a "type of people".
People like to push "race" as some homogenous thing, when really it's other factors that just happen to largely coincide with a subclass.

Yeah, they suck. You do have to keep shite locked up tightly. Luckily, they usually only steal shite, and try to do so when you're not home. I haven't seen any methhead gangs fighting turf wars though.

I don's see how these charts are ever quantified. I mean, why is per capita income a stat? It should be per capita income in relation to cost of living. I make $70k a year in MS, not TD-worthy, but well above the average. If I made this in a state like NY, CA, or MA, it would not get me nearly as far. This really skews the results in favor of Northern and coastal states.
Next, I truly want to know what unemployed is. There is no way 19 of every 20 capable adults are working. What does it mean to be employed? Honestly, I have no idea. But, those cars that sit in their driveways all day are not exactly running home-businesses...

This is what I was getting at, but perhaps I didn't make my point very clear.
Trash is trash no matter what color it is. Unfortunately, in our country socioeconomic status is heavily correlated with race. That leads to a perceived racial divide in our country, when in reality it is a matter of circumstance and should have very little to do with race anymore.
Unfortunately a victim mentality has formed, and there is now this entitlement mindset. It has created a false barrier as people are more driven by emotion based on a sense that "my problems are someone else's fault."
No, you didn't chose to be born and raised in a poor neighborhood. However you were born in a country that provides free education, meals at school, and a bus to get you there. Quit making poor choices, and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel rather than the low hanging fruit around you. That is a major reason I think mentoring programs are very important in underperforming areas.

You have a point about income , and the unemployment statistic is very misleading. LA is still at the bottom or near the bottom in almost every indicator. Unfortunately I think the ranking is accurate. LA has much to offer over northern states (low cost of living, great food, friendly people, the best fishing/hunting in the country). Unfortunately all of the problems combined (education, obesity, corruption, crime) keep people from moving here.

Yup.
I see it this way. I travel up and down the river on a daily basis. Down one of my routes I go over the levee. The crew working on the river is all black and busts arse, works hard. I have a ton of respect for those guys. One of them drives an hour and a half each way, every day. Why? To support his family.
Then I go right across the levee and there are a ton of dudes, healthy and hale and of working age, sitting on the damn stoop of the convenience store, drinking out of brown paper bags and smoking cigarettes. All fricking day.
I have ZERO respect for those human leeches.
It's not about color, it's about character.

I'm convinced politico made this assumption after reading the rant and poli board.

Polls are racist as frick. They basically go from the whitest states to the blackest states. Triggerreddddddd.

I think that's a racial breakdown.

I would guess that middle class people in the NE are a bit better off because they don't have to pay 10k per kid to get a decent education.

Louisiana doesn't have the best hunting in the country nor freshwater fishing
it's up there in salt water fishing though

On the other hand, real estate is generally cheap in the south and the cost of living is low.
Realistically being Upper class / upper-middle class isn't an issue in either area. This chart is all about the lowest class in each area when it comes to things like education and health (and crime).

Don't do much hunting or freshwater fishing so I will give you that. What state has better all around salt water fishing?
Posted on 1/13/16 at 3:36 pm to bott18240
It seems sorta arbitrary, considering we are better than Mississippi in almost all categories.

Louisiana and Florida are probably top 2 and it could go either way depending on what you like to fish for
