People in NH and Delaware just sit in their house and stare at blank walls every night, bored to tears and frustrated at their high literacy, low crime, and healthy communities.
Meanwhile the south has the SEC so that makes up for the rampant STDs (abstinence only y'all), tons of crime, and horrible education. But gumbo gumbo gumbo!!!!
I always have to roll my eyes at comments like this
do you honestly think that a middle to upper middle class white people live that much different lives than in LA or Deleware?
I don't.
You know what brings all of the stats for the south down and Deleware doesn't have that element.
The South is generally pretty segregated within their communities.

I honestly think it's sad that people see a survey like this which is based largely on statistics (which may or may not be manipulated) and spend more time worrying about the political bent of the article or bragging about food rather than recognizing the severe societal issues that impact the state.
Yes, because the OT is the place for serious, thoughtful discussion on the ills of our state and how to fix them.

why are conservatives pandering to minorities?
All politicians spend their lives perfecting the art of kiss-assing. It's like kung-fu, one hand lies..the other hand tells the truth.
In the art of being a successful politician, one hand shakes yours..and the other picks your pocket.

I never said Bobby Jindal or W was the most amazing thing to happen.
But if you can't see that the media will do anything, including lie and fake stats to push their beliefs/agenda on everyone, then you got problems.
It's 2016, everything put out in the media and fed to the public has an agenda, whether left or right wing

The main problem I've seen with Lousiana is that isn't it by far one of the most corrupt states in the country. I sometimes wonder if some of y'all S opinions would be different if you lived in a place that handled all that better.

What's "all that"?

Yikes.
Of course upper class people in each state are in fact... Upper class. It is just remarkable how people see evidence of a huge issue and their state/community and go "whatever frick that." Yes instead let's worry about being #49 or #50 rather than trying to improve from either position.

I mean.... No I'm not expecting a long thesis level response on how to fix these issues, but it is depressing seeing a response of "I GOT MY JAMABALYA AND LSU" and "fricking liberals" as a response to a significant issue affecting your state.

The issues used in this ranking do not affect me....they aren't my issues

Its also remarkable how you see a random poll/ranking and believe everything it says.
But please, continue to make sweeping generalizations about a state as a whole when residents of that state are telling you differently.
None of this affects me, my family, friends, or the people I encounter on a daily basis.

Which issue was that? I'll give you a serious response.

I wasn't talking about upper class. I specifically stated middle to upper middle.

Perhaps the bitterness is a product of years or decades of trying, and coming to the realization that the huge issue is only going to get solved when the huge issue decides to do something about it itself

Corruption as a catch all. Generally what I meant was a place that you believed that you could trust the local business, government, law enforcement, etc institutions.

Yes but issues such as low literacy (and generally poor education) hold back the state for enjoying greater economic opportunities which would be a big boon for professionals and other upper class folks in the state. Additionally it impacts crime rates which can impact you.
