I can’t imagine any state having worse roads. I’m visiting for the week and I’ve been blown away at how unbelievably bad they are.

Drive ANY highway in Indiana or I-71 in Kentucky and get back to me.

Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Colorado, and Arizona are easily worse than Louisiana.

Drove up Sherwood Forest Blvd. this morning to visit a concrete plant. The section between Old Hammond Hwy and Florida Blvd. had been repaved like 4 years ago by a locally famous contractor. It is falling apart with gullies and pot holes. The crossing at Florida Blvd. felt like I was driving over chunks of broken concrete.

People want 85mph speed limit like Texas but don't have nearly the road to do it safely...

Id bet (but haven’t tried it yet) the fricken median is smoother than the granny lane (EB and WB) on I-20 between Ruston and Minden.

I buy Emotional Support Trucks because the roads are crap.

The roads are crap because I buy Emotional Support Trucks.

It's a vicious circle.

We say this but many states have terrible roads like us. They get to build on solid rock while we pile up mud from the swamp. I've seen crappy roads all over. And yes, we have crappy roads as well.

Come to Natchitoches parish if you want to see some really bad roads.

My grandparents are in Hornbeck, north of Leesville. Literal dirt roads to their house.

Louisiana has…sloppy poo soil..for millennia…

Been hearing that excuse for years. While it does explain some of the problem, it does not excuse it. Why are the roads bad in NW Louisiana and not in NE Texas? Florida was once 90% sea floor silt. Eastern Georgia and coastal Carolina are marsh and alluvial deposits as well. Ever driven across the Everglades on I-75? It’s built on muck. Southeast Texas has the same soil as SW Louisiana and far better roadways (Errrnge, TX excepted).

Work for any government organization within the State and it won't take you longer than 2 weeks to understand why.

We appreciate your opinion, we here work very hard at letting our state government frick us over.
We love us some studies.
Also we love to repave roads over old fricked up ones so the cracks re-form orm after a short time.
We have to excel at something.

I once saw a pothole in New Orleans with a dresser in it.
