Best decision that I have ever made was to move my family out of Louisiana 5 years ago. You really don't realize just how screwed up Louisiana is until you move out of it.

Damned! I guess we DO need to grant Puerto Rico and DC statehood so we won’t always have to be last. Maybe anyway.

Nobody wants to do business in Louisiana because of the snake politicians. Starting at the top. I mean even buccees backed out. They couldn’t even compromise to get a fricking buccees.

The saddest part is that there are ones who think it’s not even that bad and that other places are just like it.

Hey man i realize Louisiana is plenty screwed up and prolly worthy of that ranking.
HOWEVER here Trump won here in a Landslide......
Where is Georgia ranked ? After their BS Sham election for Biden Winning? They easily can be 50th

During the last governors race we had the incumbent touting all his successes; balanced budget, growth in gnp, Medicaid expansion, etc. and he won over the guy telling us we need to change.
You get what you vote for.
I wanted Eddie Rispone to win. I really did.
But the fact remains that Rispone was a horrible and incompetent campaigner and he did not have the political capital necessary to withstand the unforced error he made in going negative against Ralph Abraham, especially while the formidable and entrenched incumbent in JBE is still on the scene.

You really think a state’s ranking should be determined by how they voted in the election?
The outcome of the election doesn’t change the fact that Louisiana is #50

So fricking stupid.
Louisiana may vote in national elections a certain way, but those outcomes have little to do with local elections and how the state is ran on, you know, the state level.

The poorest and least educated states are all in the south? No way....

We can bank on at least another 3 as JBE remains governor.

SEC! SEC! SEC!
Inequality for the south is real. It’s far worse than just racial inequality, which is bad in and of itself, and was the direct result of actions of a government designed to destroy and to keep the south down. Texas thrives because the rest of the country needs oil and Florida thrives only because the elitists in the north need winter spots and retirement spots. We need serious government funding for ALL southerns to right the wrongs of our government, especially since 60% of the black population is in the south and much larger percentage of welfare and uneducated live in the south. Southerners should matter, too.
Does that cover all the rationalization and conspiracy theory necessary to speak like a victim? Southerners have a platform for the next election if they just play role the victim instead of having so much accountability.

Just give Nola to another state. Problem solved.

That’s not the main reason Texas thrives. That’s a myth in modern day. Texas government is very business friendly not just O&G related business either. That’s why Elon Musk chose Texas. That’s why HP chose Texas. Texas is not like the rest of the south. It’s more of a southwestern state if we are grouping states together. It has more in common with Arizona , Colorado and Oklahoma than it does Louisiana , Mississippi or Alabama.

Agreed. I think a big part of its success is due to Texas leaving it up to individual cities as to how to incentivize/retain those businesses. Also, Texas seems to proactively invest in infrastructure which can help a great deal in attracting businesses/talent, which then propagates to more tax revenue that can be used for further investment and the trend continues. Meanwhile, Louisiana seems to be going the opposite direction.....
