We are starting to give strong thought to leaving the state once the kids are out of high school.

A bunch of people on this topic have said this. Y'all should have left before they started high school. Unless you're paying for private, the schools just aren't that great.

Not sure that is a good stat looking at where Louisiana ranks overall. Just says no one is coming in and not many leaving.

Minorities in Atlanta generally have education and money and choose to move there.

Moving from ATL to BR was an eye opener on this front. likewise bringing my friends to Atlanta from Louisiana they are like, damn all the black people are driving the nice cars here.

I’ve been out 18 years and this is very true.

I have to admit, there’s a part of me that gets it. Every time I go back home, it just feels, for lack of a better term, comfortable. You know the people, the food is good, and if you are even moderately smart and hard working it’s affordable.

I’m glad I left, but I would be lying if I said staying wouldn’t have been easier.

A lot of those New England numbers are propped up by people moving one state over.

Ex - NH is inundated with Ma-holes.

New Hampshire is the only tax-friendly state in New England while Massachussetts is also known as Taxachussetts.

Cities in Northeast RI and Southern MA are interchangeable. I was born in Pawtucket, RI and grew up about a half mile from the MA state line. The Pawtucket Country Club parking lot and clubhouse along with the 1st hole, 10th hole and 18th green are located in RI. The rest of the course is in Seekonk, MA, During COVID, MA residents were not allowed to play 10,11 and 18 due to RI only allowing state residents to play on their golf courses. Half the players on the Patriots lived in RI when their training camp was Bryant University before building a new facility in Foxboro. Many Southern Conneccticut residents fly into Providence instead of Hartford. Same with VT, NH and ME residents and Logan Airport in Boston.

When I moved to Florida in 1968, I'll bet that less than 10% of my friends or classmates were born in-state. Considering that other 90% and their parents were transplants, the born in state percentage had to be well below 5% back then.

Moved away in 2011 for better opportunities. Finally was able to come back in 2022.

I like my area in Louisiana.
