Entergy Rolling Blackouts Have Begun
quote:

Entergy has initiated additional power outages for its customers across its four-state service area. The company is taking this action as directed by our reliability coordinator, the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, as a last resort and in order to prevent more extensive, prolonged power outages that could severely affect the reliability of the power grid. The directive includes all of MISO’s south region, spanning from Arkansas to Texas to the Gulf South.

UPDATE 2/16 9:45 p.m.: “Mandatory rolling outages that began at 7 p.m. have ended for now, and we have returned the system to normal operations. All customers affected by this directive were restored by 9 p.m.
Ok... so that explains why I lost my power right at 7pm, for a large area. My entire subdivision and some adjoining areas went black, without any bang of a transformer, and without any hint of weather (other than it being cold; no wind or sleet etc). Out until about 8:30.

Oh, and

We continuously keep our communities informed throughout a storm. Customers are encouraged to download our free app for their smartphone at entergy.com/app and sign up for text alerts. Customers can also stay up to date by visiting the Entergy Storm Center website. No text notice for me, of an imminent blackout, of power outage, of power restoration.

I tried like the dickens to 'Report an Outage' on my phone, but both their app and website were froze up, kept resetting.

I can't check local television because I had no power. I dont do twitter and facebook. Heard nothing of this on the radio driving around after it all went black.

fricking announce it beforehand to the public, in case someone has something cooking, in the shower, or otherwise tied up.

Straight electric heat, no question about the reality of this statement. Interject the legitimacy of natural gas fueling the central HVAC systems and get back to me. Once you do this, please explain why Joe Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline that has moved natural gas across the country in an exponentially safe manner. Hundreds of thousands of high paying jobs cut immediately in a reckless attempt to save the global climate when no other country gives a flying frick about the climate, all the while sending your tax paying dollars to every other country in the world. When was the last time a leader from ANY other nation on earth made an announcement that they were sending hundreds of millions dollars to the United States for infrastructure/ health care/ military assistance/ etc? NTY: If you rely on the power grid to heat and cool you/ your family and were not prepared for this event, that's on you as far as I'm concerned. This is a mere preview of what's to come now that the liberal treasonist child molesting ever repeating steaming pieces of fecal matter left from goat shite have stolen the country in plain sight. Anyone watching this thread that supports the climate change or Green New Deal at tax payers' expense can freeze to death wearing not one, not two, but three facemasks as far as I'm concerned.

It would appear the last round of winter precipitation foolishness has finally exited North Texas but not before depositing 12 inches of snow.

Now it is time to get above freezing and stay there to rid ourselves Uri's landscape blight.

Ought to help the wheat farmers, cattlemen, kill a skew of bugs and benefit lawns come Spring.

Some murders, a few robberies, and maybe some auto theft for good measure.

Or did you mean the weather?

Yes, those liberal bastions of...checks notes....Louisiana and, uh, Texas?

FYI -- The "Green New Deal" has never been introduced on the floor of the House or Senate and the Keystone Pipeline wasn't completed when it was shutdown. In other words, neither thing has dick to do with your current predicament.

Anyway, back to the weather.....

Stay safe, stay warm.

It’s dumping snow in Shreveport again. Huge flakes. Really pretty right now.
