So if they want limited government, why the hell are they trying to fight sports gambling?

Lies and the lying liars who tell them.
Although I far prefer conservatives to liberals, this is the one thing that bothers the frick out of me about conservatives and the Republican Party. There's no philosophical consistency when it comes to liberty and limited government. They believe in freedom and small government right up until it interferes with their own personal feelings.
This is why I call myself a libertarian and not a conservative.

Hypocrites, usually falls back to religion or talking out both sides of their mouth.

So we should legalize all drug use and prostitution in the name of consistency?

quote:not really. conservative meaning "small government" is a pretty new thing.
bastardization of what a conservative actually is continues.
quote:
Conservatism Political philosophy Cultural conservatives hold fast to traditional ways of thinking even in the face of monumental change. They believe strongly in traditional values and traditional politics and often have an urgent sense of nationalism. Social conservatism is distinct from cultural conservatism, although there are some overlaps.
quote:
A common way of distinguishing conservatism from both liberalism and radicalism is to say that conservatives reject the optimistic view that human beings can be morally improved through political and social change.

I’m a fiscal conservative but lean muddle or left on most social issues

Yes, of course. Why should you care what other people do when it doesn't affect you? You do you and I'll do me.

People like this are what's wrong with the world. Everyone else would be better off if they took a hop off a cliff.
That’s going a little too far. Their core membership is made up of salt of the earth types. They’re hard working decent people. Unfortunately, they are also a little naive and sheltered.
The leadership of these types of groups are similar to Televangelists. They take advantage of simpletons and line their own pockets. But they are worse because they try to force their views on the rest of us.

They're stupid, manipulable people who think that proclaiming themselves as Christian is a proxy for being a decent person. These are the type of people that make up the faceless mob that commits the world's worst atrocities.

Why should we waste taxpayer money criminalizing mutually agreed upon transactions between two people who otherwise aren’t committing any crimes?

99% of this board celebrates every time smoking gets banned in private businesses. That’s how many “republicans” are, if they don’t do it or like it, ban it.

I don't disagree but why didnt it pass last year if that is the case? We have already lost tons of $ with people being able to go to MS to place a bet
