I go inside nursing homes and assisted living homes all the time. I’d say once a shift, fire/ems. Those folks are depressed and lonely as hell. We got folks calling 911 saying they have a medical emergency only to be just wanting some company and go the ER for a change of scenery. It’s extremely demoralizing for them and us.

Amos I’m sorry to hear that — and hate that y’all will perhaps go through what our facility did.
Admits aren’t even required to test negative before coming — isolation for 14 days and weekly swabs for all those residents/employees who haven’t been positive.
I wish you and your people well. And that you get home soon.

Also Amos the DON was ready for me to come back but the company higher ups said no according to our administrstor. Still working from home since March 10/11 and now set up with telemedicine — using that and FaceTime for admit assessments.
We had talked about weekly testing etc. And if I was back in the facility I’d be more careful. That said staff is taking their turns at their vacations but it’s alrwady been through our home and with the weekly testing they’ll catch infections. Only have about 10 or less who haven’t been positive — not sure about employee numbers.

You’re not kidding am— we had o e starve herself to death and another one or two go bat shite crazy. Seriously. It’s not a good time for these people.

Thanks. I have a private swab scheduled tomorrow and intend to be home for the weekend. Have an infant at home, wife treats cancer patients, and have an older family member caring for our child. Over-cautious, I know, but that’s kind of the point.
We’ve put a freeze on admits for now. Prior to and after freeze is lifted, we require 2 negatives and temps for 14 days before approving. Staff results are encouraging but resident results could be very bad based on which staff are confirmed positive to this point.

Residents here still overwhelmingly understanding and helpful. Families are getting increasingly restless and emotional, totally understandably.

All very understandable. I nearly cried after a telemedicine visit with a new admit who when I asked how she was doing in a very peppy voice, she replied in a dejected voice “I’m so lonely”. 
However the gentleman who I asked the staff to FaceTime with me was so glad and smiling ear to ear. I Was glad to seemingly bring some joy.
