How is that possible? Even if the dude was skipping bail every time, I don't see how it's possible to have that large an amount.

Judge must’ve known about her money and based the bail on that because she felt he was a high run risk. And possibly with those means the judge felt it would’ve been easy for them to find a way to flee the country. Still seems overzealous for a drug crime tho
Btw money aside, that chick is pretty fiya

Do people understand how bail/bond works if she paid 21 million for bail his bond must have been set at over 200 million.
And if his bail/bond was 21 million and he goes to court, she gets it back.

TV show Holmes appeared on "Iyanla Fix my Life "addressed this $21 million dollar misunderstanding/ myth & said it was actually under $1 million dollars actual cash that was paid( Still $1 million too much perhaps for that knucklehead).
I don't know how bail bonds work . Does she recoup any of the less than $1 million or so in cash she paid since he appeared?

Matthews decided to sue her in order to get a court order for her to pay him $9.3 million more. Despite there being no written contract that she would give him 10 percent of her winnings as a tithe, Matthews claimed that he had made financial commitments in anticipation of the money which he could no longer keep.
Pastor is a piece of shite
Op posted a bs article that's easily debunked. This Matthews is not Holmes Pastor & the guy is a fraud. Her Church pastor was the late Rev. Vaughn Cherry who was Pastor for 30 years until his accidental death in March 2019 at age 74.
It took me 2 minutes to debunk the story:
" Holmes sent a personal check for $680,000 to her Church, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist in Shallotte( NC).....Pleasant Hill is a 130 year old church located between Shallotte & Ocean Isle. The predominantly African American Church has about 400 members (135 regular attenddess)..... according to it's pastor Rev. Vaughn Cherry.
Church leaders / members helped Marie's family while her Mother struggled with heart disease & helped another close family member with mortgage payments during a difficult spell.. Most of the $680,000 are for long overdue repairs/ renovations. Holmes placed a restriction on her gift that $150,000 be reserved for helping single mothers, elderly & others in dire need."
There are readily available links of the reports of Rev Vaughn's tragic death in March at age 74. Reported in the Fayetteville observer & video of the news feed on WECT channel 6 an NBC affiliate in NC. Photos & video links of the actual church & Pastor Vaughn who was African American.

There are some churches that have a clause in the the membership contract that says you agree to give them a percentage of your income.
Anyone that signs anything to that effect is an idiot and deserves to lose their money. Or they are a Mormon.

I can relate to some pastors being jerk offs. My great great grandpa and his Civil War veteran father helped build the Lutheran church in the town and every generation until mine has grown up/served in it.
My grandpa was a trustee for 4+ decades. When he died the pastor turned my parents and my generation against him. For starters he refused to let my 16 year old sing during the funeral because she wasn't a member of a WELs church. Instead she was told she could sing in the basement during the after funeral potluck. We were outraged by that. A few months later we discovered that my grandparents had taken out another life insurance policy with the church as the sole beneficiary. What outraged us/crossed a line was the pastor knowing they were in the mid-stage of dementia/alzheimers yet instead of talking to their POA (my aunt) he just went right ahead and wrote himself/the church a $20,000 deferred payment check.
I'm religious but that has kept me out of non-holiday church attendance at any church. Now everything about churches seems to be about money and not God. It's sad.

Unfortunate ,but just dont base it on this phoney article the OP has posted. The lottery winner didn't give this fraudulent " Pastor" Matthews any money , gave it to her 130 year old church that assisted her family through Serious illness & financial hard times. And she had some strings attached to the donation about how it's used.
The $21 million dollars cash paid on bond is just false. Barely a fraction of that was paid.

False stories get rolling and just refuse to stop. I took 2 minutes & found facts that dispell the entire article. There was no $21 million dollar bond money paid.

I should have clarified if his bail was set at 21 million and she put 21 million as bail and he went to court she would get the money back.
But if she went to a bail bonds man and paid for a bail bond then she wouldn’t get the money back as the bondsman works for a fee, he or his insurance company is putting up the money up for collateral and you are paying him for that use of money to be used as a bond which is why they come after you if you don’t show up for court.
Some jurisdictions are different, some places you can give the court a cashiers check and they won’t cash it until you miss court or you have to come in with the cash.
I can recall a story about a priest getting arrested and someone came up with a 1 million dollars in cash to bail him out as they wouldn’t take a cashiers check.
