Back in the late 70s - early 80s, there was a West End Academy in Franklin, LA.
A white-flight school if there ever was one !

Ridgedale Academy - West Monroe
My younger brother played against Ridgedale in football in 1987….I was at that game.
That team could have won the A and AA LHSAA championships that year.

My grandma graduated from Golden Meadow in the 40s, I think there was only 1 or 2 boys that attended graduation because the rest had already left to fight in WWII.
Saint Frances de Sales is still open K-8, Vandebuilt is the high school

Heck judge parker's ruling in EBR instantly created several new high schools

A quick look at former LISA and MAIS schools coming into the LHSAA and how they struggled in football to start paints a pretty accurate picture.

My dad graduated from there in 69. But, I remember seeing in his yearbook pictures from the fair, so I think I saw it started before the school closed.

Wasn't Runnels a perennial small school baseball contender?
Yes, former LSU player Tookie Johnson had some really solid teams there in the early 2000’s.

Goretti High was a private school in Jeff Davis Parish, somewhere between Jennings and Lake Arthur. I think it closed in the 80s. They had some good basketball teams in the late 70s.

I think Old River Academy had a high school in its short life.
Also, Batchelor Bulldogs (1958-1980) was a name change to Upper Pointe Coupee Bulldogs (1980-1991)

You are right.
It mainly started because the church was debt. The fair started in 1969, and the church closed the school in 1972.
I had to go watch a documentary on the Fair.

Yes, they always had good teams. It’s not a coincidence that West Monroe High School started its run of dominance not shortly after Ridgedale Ac closed.
