I think growing up in Hollywood is the factor here.
She grew up thinking she had to get attention from others, and get that attention any way possible - instead of from her parents

Correct. However, removing someone's freedom to control their own life should only be used in the most extreme cases. If she wants to end up a crack whore on the street, thats her prerogative.
