Look, at one point long ago I taught African American History, and the Carver Myth was always a fun segment.
It’s like all the legitimately cool and beneficial stuff he discovered didn’t mean shite because he wasn’t the first person to mash up roasted nuts.
Inevitably I would have some kid call me a racist because they get fed stupid, incorrect shite every February.
Just because someone with a rough approximation of a similar amount of melanin as you figured out some small part of an existing invention does not mean they “invented such and such.”
That would be like me inventing an emoji that got used on TD and saying “I invented tigerdroppings.”
So no, “black people” (as stupid as that term is) didn’t invent the elevator, or peanut butter, or space travel (that was literally Nazis) or computers, or any of the other nonsense credited to them each February.
The fact is, history is white and black and yellow and brown and red. There Were people of all stripes who played significant roles in our history, and that is what should be studied. Not lies and exaggerations.

Same experience here. I dreaded February with its onslaught of lies and exaggerations. Its always the same untrue shite, repeated year after year.
The kids had an assignment to write about black inventions. One kid decided to do a paper on the lies about black inventions. This kid did research and had his facts straight. I wish i still had a copy of it. I found a similar article online black invention myths busted
I also found this short video to be amusing. It is a guy who is exposing the lies of a buzzfeed video and giving the correct facts.
The bf video was titled "People try to live without black inventions". That video was one of the stupidest videos ever, but it is buzzfeed after all
