I enjoy the area don't get me wrong. But Charlotte/Raleigh has much more to offer for outdoor activities. It's also prettier and actually has seasons.

Bringing the family to visit your neck of the woods soon baw. Thinking of moving to some place in NC, GA or SC in the next few years. Done with Louisiana.

Where you headed? Leaves are changing now in my area if that matters to you.

NC income tax sucks vs Texas, but it is a gorgeous state

Often depends upon your career fields.

I'd take NC weather.
But, Texas is still a great place.

We were going to come check out your area but not until November. Last year we did Franklin, The Highlands and did a bunch of adventuring North of Asheville. But I heard good things about Bryson City and want to see it. Also want to get a look at the area around Greenville, SC and North West of there. Kind of just touring with the family.

5.25%

Compare that with about a 6% sales tax and some of the lowest property taxes in the country, and you’re not saving much living in Texas paying 9% sales tax and high property taxes.

Plus, our electricity works in the cold.

If you enjoyed Franklin and Highlands, Bryson City will blow you away. It’s much more of a true mountain town. Highlands is that way also, but has become crowded. My folks own a place there. If you have younger kids, Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson I believe will be running their Polar Express starting In November.

We’re about a twenty minute drive from the GSMNP as well.

Used to be. You can guess what ruined it.

It’s still a really awesome place. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

No it’s not. California hipsters ruined the charm.

Oh I get it. You let politics ruin your life. That’s a shame.

Great restaurants, breweries, scenery, hiking, etc. I love Asheville, and don’t care about the political leanings of anyone there one way or the other.
