Damn, that sounds terrible. Were you not able to walk around anymore?
Once I started walking it was slow progress at first but you have to walk thru the pain the get better. Although the surgery was on the side of the foot it was the ankle just doesn't rotate like it used to yet. I have about 80% flexibility now and it hurts if I put too much pressure on it. The last 2 week have been much better but the first 8 weeks sucked for a variety of reasons.
Feet dont play!!

Take ibuprofen to help with the pain and swelling until you see the doc. Ice on your heel and keep it elevated.

freeze a water bottle and rub your foot over it. Also, stretch your foot by pointing and flexing your toes, that helps a ton.

If you did actually tear the tendon, look up plantar fasciitis sock. It holds your toe so the tendon heals in the extended rather than shortened length.
Usually good to go after a week.
I tear mine one every couple of years doing calf raises. It happens.

I have been fighting this the last couple years and this is what worked for me...Get you a pair of shoes (sandals, slip-ons) that are specifically designed for PF to wear around the house. I got some slip-ons that has what looks like half an egg sized lump in the insert right under my arch. After the second day of walking in them my foot pain started to go away. Also, get you some shoe inserts made for high arch PF. Honestly the $12 ones from WalMarks does just as good as some of the $100 I have used. I have a pair in every shoe I own so I dont have to keep swapping them in and out.
As long as I keep this up I go about my day basically pain free. But one day of walking around barefoot, I pay the price te next day when the pain returns.

Find someone that can use the Graston Technique to help you. I had Plantar Fasciitis in both of my feet a few years ago and this was the only thing that worked. Before I found my doc, I felt like I could not get out of a building if it were on fire! I’ve recommended this to several friends and they have had the same positive results. I would try this before you move forward with any other type of treatment. Look it up online. I think there is even a video you can find on self-treatment using Graston.

I am familiar with that. I might have to try it now. Thanks.

Just take some advil and quit being such a pussy. The stuff worked wonders for Nolan Ryan.

I’m experiencing the same pain though not as severe. I’m getting back into running and I’m 30 pounds heavier than I should be. One of my nurse colleagues said to roll your foot over an ice cold bottled water for relief

That's not really a problem for me

Someone told me to make sure my bed sheets were not tucked in too tight at the foot of the bed to give my foot room to flex. Doing that, combined with stretching my quads and hamstrings, and a good pair of Brooks Glycerin shoes has healed mine.

quote:Just find a good shoe store. They have a Redwing store around here that does some type of scanning of your foot or something like that, that tells you if you have high or low arcs, etc. A coworker was just talking about another shoe store and I looked on their website and they have a thing that scans your foot and does a 3d mapping of it and how the weight is distributed. It sounded pretty good but no telling how much they charge. Although I think at the Redwing store, it is like $50 tops for the test/scan/whatever it is.
Can my family doctor take care of that? Or do I have to be referred to a specialist?

Get a bottle of water and freeze it and roll it under your foot. Also, do some calf raises.

I had of really bad case of pf several years ago. Stretching helps, but the best thing for me was KT tape. Felt better immediately. YouTube can show you how to apply it. It is a little pricey at the drugstore but you can get cheap on ebay. Good luck and I hope you feel better. Plantar fasciitis sucks.

I had to wear boots. Velcro.
I had to wear custom orthotics.
Still do both.
Had to do exercises.
Less now. Was religious until victory.
Now do minimum optimum. That's the least of all that without discomfort. Body says when you slack off too much. Boots pain the arse. Orthotics are expensive but worth it.
