Looking for a specific type of watch

I know there are several watch guys on here. I bought my first "nice" watch ten years ago and am looking to get another now.
The problem is there are too many brands and it's hard for me to figure out where to start. So I will give you a few that stood out to me and maybe you can point me in the direction of others that are similar. Basically I like a watch that is nice in a subtle way if that makes sense. Don't like flashy.
I found an Air King datejust Rolex 5700 that I liked.
And also this one really fits what I'm

The two above are older models and obviously used, but the style I like. i guess while we're at it let me know if there's a specific reason to stay away from the used market in Rolex (or others). That eBay love sting gives you a 30 day money back guarantee so that makes me feel better about it being legit and I'd def bring to a jeweler in first 30 days to make me feel better if I did get it.
Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the Rolex Explorer.
Also, any ebay purchase make sure returns are allowed. If you buy from there, take it to a rolex shop and make sure it is authentic.
Check RolexForums.com. Guys sell a lot of watches there and the forum rates the sellers. You will not get screwed there if you pick a highly rated seller.
ETA: For the quality and resale value you cannot beat a Rolex. There are other great brands but the cost goes way up.

Don't get a Rolex.

I will agree this is a good choice for Omega. Perfect size at 38.5mm.
The only other Omega I would buy would be the Speedmaster Moon Watch.

You mentioned this watch, get it from a reputable source, it's classic and will hold its value.

Those are poorly styled, mostly the dial ages them, watches and not big enough. If you must from that house...get something on a more modern platform.
41.5mm
They'll be ~$2.5k, depending on whether you get a bracelet,...but I'd buy from a legitimate jewelry store that carries Rolex, and not a grey market, or worse, source.
I'd look at Bell&Ross, IWC, Ball, Sinn, Nomos, Stowa...

This always makes me laugh. I buy nice watches to wear nice watches. Not because they hold their value. I don't get why this is so important to so many.
If I buy a watch it is because I love it. I have no intention of selling it.

I think an Air King will be my next watch as well.

The modern Air King is interesting, but it's a $6-7k watch.

The green accents are terrible.

I think they must have had good feedback with the Milgauss, outside of the second hand, and decided to use those colors on this line. It's the right size, and the bezel is nice. The mixed type A and B dial is tricky.

Not familiar with Milgauss, does that have the green and yellow accents? My initial impression is it looks trinkety....

They actually made it with a green glass crystal.

you can get a brand new tudor black bay in that price range. It's a better watch. You can beat the hell out of it and not have to worry about damaging it. Dings and scratches give it character. Mine looks like it's been through a war but still runs perfect.

Keep in mind when buying a high end watch that there will have to be maintenance upkeep on the watch. I find that there are very few watch masters in the Baton Rouge area. Steve Andrews in Zachary is the best I've found yet. Local jewelers don't have a clue as to what they are doing.
