One of the lots I am looking at would require a septic system. Anyone that would have knowledge on estimates to have one put in?

We have a septic tank and a well. Not sure how much the septic was to install but if you don't do well maintenance yourself, that's $400-600 a year.

Don't do it. My house in Mandeville had a well. The water smells like shite and it ruins your appliances and clothes.

There are filters for well water systems that help with the water

Yes, and we had a whole house filter. It doesn't eliminate the smell or the toll it takes on the appliances.

My water is great tasting with no odor, you might have had a bad filter system.

A good portion of the area between 1088 and Florida are on well and septic systems.

I'm on city water and have a water treatment plant.

My dad lives 7 blocks away and is on well water with a water treatment plant. In 7 years he hasn't had problems with his appliances, clothes or smell.

Both of us are in Mandeville.

Septic should be about $2500 if there is not a need for a pump (lift station).
If you have access to government water you will save some bank. The wells in the area generally have to be deeper than normal. I would budget $5k for a well.

I agree. We have two wells. The older one is shallow. The new one we went much deeper. Water is better, but more expensive to drill.

We have a well at a camp in Lacombe, water is great for drinking and shower - no bad smell at all. I cant speak about appliances since they're really not used often.

Bought new septic system about 5-6 years ago I think it was around 3k. House is small.

Might want to check with the city on when they will expand sewage connections. Friend built s house over there in old Mandeville off labarre. They told him he had to do septic system and right as the construction was about finished, they told him he could have a sewage connection to the city.

Wasted money ultimately

I looked at a house in the are behind Perlis, literally right in the middle of town, and it was on a well/septic. Thought that was odd.

Great up on well water out in the country, Never a quality problem but it was artesian fed. maybe that's the difference?
