On deployments, a little over 6 months.

18 months one time, 12 months a couple of times, although I came home on mid-tour leave for two weeks on each of those.

Crazy question but do you have any fear of her not moving back?
Posted on 11/3/24 at 2:43 pm to Chingon Ag
No not really. If she ever does I will probably move there

2 weeks a bunch of times. I worked on a project in Cleveland, OH for 18 months or so onsite - 2 weeks there, 2 weeks back at home.

Wife is gone for 4.5 months with our 6 months son. I feel like I have so much free time even with work. Honestly feel kind of sad.
Yea that wouldn't work for me. No way I could be away from my kids that long voluntarily. I'd be paying for flights for the in-laws to come here

3 months.
And 2 months when they were little
Working.
Decided the money I made wasn't worth the time I missed
I work a much less lucrative job now and it kills me, but I have flexibility, I get to bring them to school every morning I have them. I got to sing them lullabies at night. I get to sleep next my wife instead of some lonely hotel room
Chasing paper is great for younger guys without families, but it tore my first marriage apart and did some damage on my soul.
Yeah, I might have had a nicer house, nicer car, more money.
But honestly I don't need all that. Because I can't buy the time back

I changed jobs when the kids were younger because I was traveling too much. Luckily it was pretty much a lateral move pay-wise.

Pretty sure the longest has been 6 days.

5 days since either of my two were born and I was almost immediately homesick. That’s after I spent the previous 5 years traveling for work on a 28 day on/4 day off rotation

My husband was gone on work trips for a week a couple of times many years ago.
I was away for six days last winter overseeing a renovation at our camp.
Beyond that…not more than a day or two. We don’t like being apart.

8 years in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia........Wife and kids would leave for the summer months because of the brutal heat. They kept coming back in September .

Longest for me with my current wife is 2 weeks when I decided I needed to hit the road on my bike and head to the Rocky Mountains for a road trip.
Longest with wife #1 was about 3 weeks after our son was born in 78. I was working night shifts and she went home to be with her mom for some help.
Now, I've got friends who were merchant seamen and would be gone for 3-4 months at a time before coming back to N.O. and getting off the ship for several weeks between trips.
My stepdad was one such guy and went to sea at least 2 times a year, usually for 3 months at a time.

Damn, man… Find a therapist to talk it out if you start feeling dark. Everything will be fine. Support is key. Stay supportive in the way she needs.

No way in hell my wife is taking my newborn child across the world for that long without me
