quote:It can come from any source, of course, but I assume you are trying to make a point that most electricity still comes from fossil fuels. But given that a unit of fossil fuel converted to electricity at a power plant and transmitted over power lines to charge an EV can drive the EV further than the same unit of fossil fuel combusted directly in an ICE vehicle, what is so "crazy dumb" about it?
Where does the electricity come from. People are crazy dumb.

Our existing infrastructure cannot be modified to accommodate hydrogen. No matter what anyone tells you about HDPE, the fusing processes are so incredibly lacking that a switch to hydrogen will blow up so many houses that it’s not even worth talking about. It’s literally starting from scratch.
Lol, why are you putting hydrogen in houses?? Natural gas for residential uses (such as heating and stoves) is going to be phased out for electrical stoves. That is already happening.
Baw hydrogen is the most energy dense liquid fuel (thats not an opinion thats a fact). Technology is currently under development, for not just sustainable production (via multiple pathways), but also down stream use (in energy storage, fuel cells, or drop in combustible fuels). Not only are Fortune 500 companies spending billions in hydrogen research worldwide, but the US Department of Energy's Earthshot Initiative is putting several billions towards the goal of being able to domestically produce hydrogen at less than $1 a kg (which when volumetrically converted is approx. 1 gal) by the end of the decade. Which this is totally bipartisan btw and it was started by Trump, which even the libs and republicans agree on. Trump's administration moved a ton of money from EV to hydrogen.
When it comes to current infrastructure, we don't have all that we need but that is called capitalism and progress. We also didn't have the infrustrure for cell phones but we got on it and created infrusture and jobs. At the end of the day, even though your favorite companies regularly modify plants to suit other uses, a plant will need to be built, or simply modified, just like all the other ones in Baton Rouge and elsewhere, creating jobs and keeping current employees. But the fact of the matter is that pertinent plants, vehicles, and existing infrastructure can and will be modified and it's just a matter of time.
We had to give up leaded gas, we moved on to a different fuel (unleaded is a different fuel). Hydrogen is here, you'll be ok your new 3/4 ton running on hydrogen will produce significantly more torque and horsepower.

Time to full charge on supercharger…30 minutes
I believe that as much as a tranny tells me he is a she.
I used a supercharger for a car, it took 45 minutes to go from 40% to 90%. That was charging at 440 volts and 96 amps. I would think a truck battery would have a larger battery and hence take longer to charge.

I wonder how many charge cycles those batteries would hold up t at those kind of inputs. That’s a shite ton of juice. 42Kw for 40 minutes

If you exclusively supercharged you’d end up riding right on the warranties degradation.

You can use survey data to show anything you want.
Sorry if I don’t buy something that a gay man from upstate NY is trying to put out. Dude seems like he hates America and men who like trucks.
So 35% of people who have a truck will only put something in the truck bed one time a year? Yea, that’s bullshite lol

And a full 35 percent of truck owners use their truck for hauling—putting something in the bed, its ostensible raison d’être—once a year or less.

That claim seems like bullshite. Maybe half that under normal conditions and that is a stretch.

The data came from Edwards. That article is shite but it is what it is. The vast majority of trucks are brodozer mall crawlers.

I don't tow much with mine but I use my truck bed all the time.
I actually think it would be pretty inconvenient not to have a truck if you are a homeowner and like doing things around the house.

I don’t care where it came from. Surveys are surveys.
I’m just not buying that there are 35% of truck owners out there who have put something in their truck bed ONCE in a years time.
That writer def has an axe to grind against America/capitalism/hetero male truck owners. He’ll find stats to back up what he wants to say.

ll that to argue with data that came from Edwards. Did the gay guy hurt your feeling?
No he didn’t. But it’s very clear that truck drivers have basically destroyed this dude.
I’ve said, I don’t put any faith in the data, for sure. Stats can say whatever people want them to say. That 35% one is bullshite.
Then I also layer out how unhinged this dude is about trucks and showed you what his agenda is. So of course he’s going to find selected stats to back that up.

The best reason to not own a truck is you don’t get hit up regularly to haul shite by folks who don’t own a truck
Posted on 5/21/23 at 12:23 pm to TackySweater
Yeah he’s a weirdo and it’s a shite article but I trust Edwards along with strategic vision, ford and a ton of other reliable sources that have put out very similar research. Most trucks never get anything more than a couple bags of mulch thrown in them.
