Also, ethanol has an awful return on energy. An electric car so much more efficient compared to E that it’s a fools errand to pursue.
So you’re saying that the past 20 years were a massive waste of time and resources with putting ethanol into our fuel?

Yeah I only like ethanal for making mad power. Other than that it’s a terrible idea. Btw most of my E comes out of a drum because E85 is bullshite.

Whatever happened with the algae producing ethanol, that seemed incredibly promising but it has seemed to disappear?
Side note: the cheap race gas was a HUGE plus for me since I wanted to convert my car over to E85 to run some big boost.

My truck smells like a distillery whenever I have run it on E85. Very noticeable on start up and backing out.
Also has more torque around town.

My suburban can take E85 but I’ve never tried filling up the tank yet since I know it can get wonky switching between fuel types.

Years ago a buddy had a mod pulling truck that ran on alky. Was interesting watching the tunnel ram frost up.

I've never had any problem. But then it's pretty rare I run it on E85 as the price almost never warrants it.

Turbo blue or straight ethanol? I still remember seeing gas stations “up north” with turbo blue for sale at the pumps.

I don’t think it ever yielded the output they thought it would.
I love some high content ethanol. But it’s a tough one because you really need a system that can content monitor and adjust accordingly. There’s too much inconsistency for me to trust my engine to it without it.

That sounds more like methanol than ethanol.

It really wasn’t that long ago that they were working on it only to drop it.
Guardian article on algal biofuels
Looks like word got out that electric was the new direction, sad.

May have been. Was at least 15 years ago now.
640 cubes with two Dominators. Now it seems all you hear about in pulling are diesels.

I’ve spent the last 5 years with one of the ten largest private fleets in the reporting up to me. Before that 3 different oil and gas company fleets. I live in this data and report it to a fortune 100 BOD. Anecdotes are anecdotes. That’s all they all. Fleet cost per mile is decreasing. End of story.

Let's take towing off the table since most towing is less than a hundred miles anyway.
Uh - spoken like someone that’s never driven a truck.
What an idiotic ststement

This thread went exactly as I imagined.
Evs, particularly trucks are just commuter vehicles because of the amount and time for charging.

The manufacturer estimated the Silverado EV range to be 400+ miles.
The U-Haul trucks also say you can rent them for $29!
