Yeh my great uncle from Gonzales always said that. But I believe it would be if it wasn't for unfavorable building conditions for a big portion of the way. shite we're lucky to have the Bon Carre with our road planners. And 600k? Has BR not surpassed that? I thought greater BR area was pushing 750/800k nowadays.

Oh was this a Nola vs. BR dig thread?

No not at all.

It’s the little brother syndrome coming out in Mikelbr.

This thread has nothing to do with New Orleans

The question is what would LSU be like without Baton Rouge. Answer: better

It's like 830k but what we consider the metro is fairly ridiculous. The urban area is about 600k I believe.

Would Pineville still be dry?

Honestly, Br without LSU would be more like current New Orleans. Populations are roughly comparable in recent years, awful political oversight, insane crime rates, left lane drivers.... the list goes on. Only difference really is that the baws in BR wear green rubber boots and lift their 4x4's and the baws in Nola wear white rubber boots and lift their 4x2's.

Ahh yeh I figured they claimed a lot of area for that last I saw a stat for population. I think Nola claims like the north shore and maybe even Hammond (but I could be wrong on that). I did read that not terribly long ago New Orleans had more residents than Atlanta but that is certainly no longer the case

Edit: Is Pineville still dry? I thought that got sorted out. Maybe Kingsville did it idk I'd have to check I know it was always dry and there was a lot of media hoopla locally about it a year or two back.

Having been in one of the suburbs of Jackson this weekend, I totally agree. The mayor of Madison took control early on and the city is very nice. No apartments and building appearance codes for businesses.

The politicians and property owners of BR suburbs were far more concerned with getting rich and getting their developer friends rich to do something like Madison or have a long-term vision.

I believe St Francisville has the best chance long term but that is one hell of a drive.

I always wonder about that when driving through St. Franny. One of the prettier areas (land wise) of the state but I bet the locals would fight that tooth and nail to keep their area country.

BR claims places like Clinton and St Helena Parish. Not many people living in Greensburg are commuting to BR for work or shopping

20-25 years ago that was the pretense of what Livingston and Ascension Parishes were doing.

Yeah but Atlanta proper is very misleading. The city population is 1/10th the size of the urban area population.
