LLOTOT, is there really that much of a difference in hair spray?

As a man, I use Dove when I have a use for hair spray. It has an acceptable smell and does what it is designed to do. I don't use it often, but it works when necessary. Plus it is very inexpensive. A bottle is less than $5.
For women who use hair spray daily, is Dove or something equivalent not acceptable? A friend of mine, let's call her Jill Clover uses Aveda Brilliant and it's considerably more expensive, around $24 per bottle. Jill is now wanting to use another brand, because her hair stylist, Rafael gave her a free (hook, line and sinker) sample of Oribe. Cost is $40 per bottle.
I can appreciate Rafael wanting to upsell to a brand that offers him more profit margin, but is there really a major difference between a $5 bottle to a $24 bottle to a $40 bottle?
I mean it all sticks and holds hair in place, right?

There can be a difference, depending on what you want (super hard hold vs soft & touchable). Some can be more drying to your hair than others. I doubt any are $35 better than the Dove you use, but we all have our "thing".

Something is not quite right with that statement.

Are you saying as a man that you have never used hair spray?
C'mon man! We are all OT'ers and drive Porsches and live in $750K plus houses - I get all of that - but let's be honest about this as well.
Unless you are completely bald or have male pattern baldness.

You also use their deodorant? With specific instructions on how to use?

Or enjoy having a shaved head?

Nah. I use a non-aluminum based deodorant. Don't want the cancer.

soft & touchable
Wish that shite worked for me. If it isn't a strong hold my hair falls straight down.
I'm curious of the OPs question as well. I used to only buy PM hairspray, but switched to some cheaper kind the last month. Not sure if I can tell much of a difference.

Darth will touch your hair and tell you. He may rub your feet too, though.

I love Oribe products but I use cheap hairspray because I don't think that touchable/brushable "hold" actually holds anything in Louisiana's humidity. The cheaper hairsprays do dry out the hair.
Check out L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray. They sell it at some drugstores and Ulta. Just as good as the expensive stuff.

My mom sprayed my hair a couple of times when I was in a couple of stupid plays in early elementary school. I will honestly say I have never applied hair spray to my hair on a voluntary basis.

dude if that ever were to be a deciding factor with any woman, you have much more pressing matters to be concerned about than your hairspray

Yes and no.
White Rain hairspray from the dollar store smells godawful and leaves a thick, sticky residue in your hair. But there are plenty drugstore brands that are acceptable.
If you want to try the fancy stuff, Ulta is doing a hair event for the next month where each day, 3 different hair items are 50% off for one day only. This Saturday, Paul Mitchell styling products are $9.99. I'll be there stocking up. Regular price is ~$20 or so.

I don't even own hairspray, but back in the cheerleading years I liked a flexible hold.
I always bought drugstore brands, though. Could never spend $40 on hairspray...

Where? On their respective websites or Ulta?
