This would have ended very differently 50 years ago in the LP.

Non-violent crime. We need to stop putting folks in jail for theft. Doesn’t hurt anyone and they just become a better thief.

All this is yet another reason brick and mortar stores are becoming obsolete

And why they are stealing Amazon boxes off people's front porches.

Or a harassment / racial situation

It’s a write off for the stores, they don’t care who steals what as long as it isn’t an employee

I worked in retail years ago, every time you walk out the door your bags are searched by management

This is going to happen more and more because no one does anything about it and if someone does do something about it, the perps will sue and get more money out of the theft.

(It wasn’t white people)

Anytime the media doesn’t specify the ethnicity of the criminals in an article that’s what it means. Otherwise, when the suspects are white people, the media is smiling ear to ear and jumping for joy stating “white male/female” countless times in the article.

To those of you that claim we have too many people incarcerated, this growing trend is clear proof we don’t have nearly enough incarcerated.... it is a near daily occurrence at some locations

When they write it off, they don't get the money back it costs them to buy the product, they just don't get charged the taxes as if it was sold or still in inventory.

We pay for it .... the no intervention policy isn’t just to protect employees it’s to protect stores from lawsuits by/ the thieves.

I would not be surprised to see a few national retailers go To a club type “membership or is it time for a ban on hoodies
