Pass Christian is where you want to live on the coast. I'm planning on buying property and building there in a couple of years. It would be much sooner if my wife understood the concept of saving money.

A couple of people have mentioned Bay St. Louis. It's a cool place down by the water, but it's surrounded by Hancock County which sucks. Of course, I live in Stone County and some would call that shitty. It's quiet though.

Georgia Tech & Miss St are the only two that have finished. So I am 1-1.

I got family with a nice house for sale right off the beach. They rebuilt the exact house they lost in Katrina.

Coastal living in MS, my 3 top choices:

1. Ocean Springs
2. Bay St. Louis
3. Biloxi

Imagine living in a suburb of Tokyo and you know that Godzilla is going to plow through there every so often.

It's built up a little but not much. Probably 25' asl

Katrina came, the house was gone and a car was in that tree by the pool.

It's Mississippi, the correct wording would be "they have less shitty schools than anywhere else in the shitty state"

Nope.

Can anyone comment on what living in Pass Christian is like? And a follow-up question: Is living there all about being on the water, such that if your home is not on the water, there's not much point in living there?

Pass Christian is a pretty rural area, but you have access to the Gulf and the Gulf Coast metro area, so you won't be far from things to do--especially if you enjoy outdoor activities. Good schools, so need to go private school. (PC used to be the crown jewel of MS public schools but has since lost some its luster. It's still top 15-20, though.)

You really can't go wrong anywhere from Pass Christian to Ocean Springs (excluding Gulfport).

I don't know that area well, but I didn't realize there was ground 25'high aalong that area of Bay St Louis/Waveland. I'm sure the water was ~30' deep around there. It was about 28' at my aunt's house in PC. Some of the areas in the back of PC got 33' to 35'. I guess water stacked up in BSL.

There is nothing to do in PC. BSL or Ocean Springs have lots of events, festivals and concerts. Those are much better options if you want to have any fun...

Uh aren’t both those places like about 10 minutes away from PC?

We’ve been going to the area more and more. It’s close enough but still feels like you’re somewhere else. Coastal feel without feeling overly resorty. Relatives also got a “camp” there on the bay (which is actually damn nice for a camp) so another reason.

The only time we got burned was staying at Margaritaville for the blue angels show bc it was complete chaos but according to them was only because it’s an insanely crowded event and isn’t usually so packed.

I'm just guessing. It's downhill to the beach then slopes down.
Could be 15'

My grand parents house on the Jordan river was completely submerged. They lost everything as well. T
