Live in Shadwell, it will be cheaper but you will have to speak Bengali and Pakastani. Lots of hot women in Burkha's though.

I've been to London several times and every trip some dick kills himself by jumping on the track. Not sure if I have bad luck or it's really that common there

I know a couple of Americans who now live in London. They love it. I'd go for it. Living abroad is amazing, and will change you for the better. And, in London, you can't throw a rock without hitting something that is hundreds of years old.

Super expensive though.

You'll also be close to so many places in Europe that are a quick flight away.

Yeah this is one of those moves that would depend on the money you'll be making.. London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. I think you could probably live in an undesirable area for cheaper, though.

Don't try to pretend there's no risk for an American fresh off the farm (as the saying goes). Later on, as he acclimates to the culture there, then maybe. But don't go being cavalier with someone's life.

No, not many. More than a handful, and at least 3 dozen restaurants and bars

Same here, I was pretty amazed by how common it is. I remember seeing it in a hostel in Prague, among many other places.

Hello, McFly, that's the point in warning him off of those areas. And it's not just Americans who should avoid those areas, many Londoners routinely avoid them as well.

Muslim London is the scene of incidents like these...

LINK ]Muslim protestors demand restaurants and shops stop selling 'evil' alcohol warning them they face 40 lashes if they carry on

..and as an American he should avoid that. I don't know that anything unpleasant would happen to him, but I don't know for sure it wouldn't. And neither do you.

Period.

I lived in Manchester for a year and loved it. London is way better than Manchester but like others have said, way more expensive. I think I've seen a figure of 75% more expensive for rent and 40% more for food and entertainment than the average american city. And you will have to pay Council Taxes (property taxes) as a renter. Otherwise, the food is great and with a big diversity of choices. The Pubs are dying but there are still a few in London. The muslim neighborhoods are safer than many hoods in the US. I don't hesitate to go into those areas.
